The President who never was-----George Washington was the first president under the US Constitution of 1789. However, the US was an independent country for 13 years before the Constitution was signed. For one year during this time, John Hanson served as "President of the US in Congress assembled." Technically, he was the first President of the United States. Jefferson was the first president to be inaugurated in Washington, DC.

The US should have 51 states today, but one of them disappeared and became part of Tennessee. Can't recall the name of it though.-----It was the State of Franklin.
