We are approaching the festive season and I wondered which (if any) Christmas Carol was special for you? For me Silent Night always seem's so appropriate!

"Once in Royal David City for me", I love that carol, it takes me back to when I had my first child, I was quite ill before I had him and had to spend quite a long time in hospital including Christmas day, Christmas eve the hospital held a carol service for patients and visitors, it was really magical.

So many to choose from Ron, I really couldn't pick just one.

I love the traditional tunes, well traditional for me means the ones I grew up with. I love Oh Little Town of Bethlehem, Once in Royal David's City, I Saw Three Ships, We Three Kings, Hark The Herald Angels, Oh Come All Ye Faithful, Oh I could go on.

I also like Oh Holy Night, The Coventry Carol, Oh Come, Oh Come Emanuel.

And one of my all time favourtie is the Carol of the Birds which I fear many have never heard.

I Love Christmas Carols!

Love all those too Sue. I used to love seeing the children in the Nativity - they haven't had it for a few years for the older ones now but Solomon might do something this year in nursery. I love it when they try to remember the words to Away in a Manger.

And now you've lost me... Embarassed I have to admit that sadly I don't know most of the songs you mentioned there Sue. I'm going to try and find a way to listen to them.

Yes, "Tenessee Christmas", and Amy Grant's version of "Be with me now" and..gosh..I like Boony M's," Mary's Boy Child", and I could keep going on..and on...and on...and on...and on....smiles* My mother's favorite use to be "Silver Bells". Tijauna Brass...has some jazzy tunes that have helped me to play music myself. Then there's the Manhiem Steam Roller group..or somethign like that..( I see Celtic Chrimas tunes ar eout this year)...my kids have an big TV at the foot of their bed from when they had their own house and so it was I got them an DVD of snowfalling in the woods and turn on the tape deck with Christmas music and put an little decorated and lighted tree next ot the bed, shut off the bedroom lights except for the Tv and tree.....now if you do this I suggest the coziest, warmest bedding and the fluffiest and softest pillows in pretty vibrant Christmas Plaids and Satin reds to go with it all. Don't forget the wine, two glasses, and the chocolates "either" Use to be you could get these tapes at "Bed and Borders" and they have one that is an cracklin fireplace if you don't like the woodland snow bit. Yes, I like Christmas!

There are so many! Oh Come, Oh Come Emanuel, and Oh Holy Night iare old standards. In recent years "Let Us the Infant Greet" has become one of my favorites:

LET US THE INFANT GREET

Words and music traditional

Let us the Infant greet
In worship before Him fall
And let us pay Him homage meet
On this His festival.

Let us to the Infant sing
And bring Him of gifts rich store
Let us honour our Infant King
With praise for evermore.

Let us to the Infant kneel
And love Him with faithful love
And let our joyous anthems peal
For Him who reigns above.

Glad hymns in the Infant's laud
Sing we to Him while we may
In heaven where He is throned as God
Our service He will pay.

Be we to the Infant true
While we are dwelling on mould
And He will give us our wages due
A crown of purest gold.

'O Holy Night' Is my very favourite, especially sung by Katherine Jenkins. I also like the Josh Groban version.
