I have just logged on to this forum.and I find it quite difficult to join in, as I am in the possible position of being in this situation in a few years time. As you can see I am disabled and have a chair and have pain control and life at times is very difficult. I have a wonderful wife who loves me and cares for me. I just hope that when the time comes I have the ability to take this option, but that is my chorce. So for me  I have to agree with Andy and the rest of you who beleive this law is an ass.

Roland, it's so easy for those of us who are not in that position, yet, to make such comments. I can't imagine what it must be like for you. I hope that we don't seem insensitive to your predicament.

I came across an interesting piece of writing which touches on the subject of death. I reproduce it below and would be interested in any comments.

Death-What a wonderful way to explain it!!

A sick man turned to his doctor, as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said

"Dr, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side."

Very quietly, the doctor said "I don't know"'

"You dont know? You, a Christian man, do not know what is on the other side?"

The doctor was holding the handle of the door; on the other side came a sound of scratching and whining, as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.

Turning to the patient, the doctor said,

"Did you notice my dog? He's never been in this room before. He didn't know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear. I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing.... I know my master is there and that is enough."

that is OK Richard, it seemed to be quite a comforting text to those who are faced with the prospect of death.
