I have just read about the passing of Kathy Staff, who played Nora Batty in Last of the Summer Wine, as well as starring in many other programs.

Interesting that she should follow so close behind Brian Wilde also of Last of the Summer Wine.

I think it's important for us who have enjoyed the talents of these people to take a moment to be thankful for their lives.

Yes, what a fantastic series it was Sue. I guess we shall always remember the way she managed to wear her stockings - yuck, but funny!

I remember her well from 'Crossroads' too. It surprised me that she was 80 I must admit. She was a really talented actress.

Have just found out the sad news through this forum.

She was a very talented actress and will be sorely missed.

I am afraid that "Last of the Summer Wine" is one show I have not had the pleasure of seeing (yet), so I am not familiar with this actress, though I am sorry to hear of her passing.

Since the title of this thread doesn't specifically refer to Kathy Staff, I thought it might be the appropriate place to mention the passing of another great star, Van Johnson, who died on Friday aged 92. I loved him, and remember him fondly, especially from his role in "Brigadoon" opposite, Gene Kelly.

Yes, may she rest in peace.  Nora Batty is a classic.
