Dr. D's (Denzil) Advice Column, Is there a doctor in the house?

Dr D. I am getting a sore throat  . Both my boys have had it and now it seems to be my turn. Any ideas of what I can take?

I'm going to make up a hot cranberry, OJ, cinnamon drink mixture to keep me going until I hear from you.

P.S. I don't drink alcohol, so don't give me any fixes with that stuff in it please.

Well since Dr. D is on a house call Sue I will help out with my Medical Assistance training. The very best thing to do is gargle with warm salt water. Do this several times a day. Stay away from orange juice, milk and sodas as they produce mucus which can lay in the back of your throat and irritate it even more. Also the use of a warm mist humidifier is recommended to keep the lining of your throat moist. When your throat gets dry it can become raw and hurt more.
