Putting butter on a burn is an old wives tale that does not work. Using butter, lotion or any kind of grease covers the burn and holds in the heat causing more pain. You should run it under cool water or lay a cloth with cold water on it. No rubbing or you could lose your skin.

Surprised  oh i've been to loads of people that have actually done this!!!  its just like basting a turkey!!

your right with the advice Sue!!Wink

You know there's nothing like not burning yourself to begin with...but they also have stuff out that deadens the pain these days also. I had an girfriend whose hubby is an Portland Fire Inspector, and her two son's are firemen now, and she use to volunteer at the Burn Unit at Providence Hosptial, she was telling us that they use "pig fat" to cover badly burned people, until they can grow back their own fat and skin...natually is all sanitized also. then they go in for the plastic surgery afterwards and skin transplants. I'm sure with cell stem research much of this stuff is changing these days though.

Windex for everything!!

Krissy that reminds me of My Big Fat Greek Wedding. lol

Spray a ballpoint pen ink mark on clothing with hairspray just before laundering.  I've tried it - it works, but probably only with the non-aerosol spray.
