That seems to be a universal problem Shirley. I am sure our friends here on POE could tell of similar miscarriages of justice.

Diane tell us some more about your "shopping sprees" I guess we all need to be shopping more these days...my daughter in-law is in near "rapture" finding an $69 purse for $9 (another store) here recently...but still selling at Macy's for $69. Did you ever get that little shopping bag you so wanted around Christmas time, I think you did didn't you? Ever hear from Wolf, and where's Ruth at now..Lynn Greenway and some of the other oldies these days? Out shopping maybe? I went to Macy's two weekends ago an bought me some more "Channel #5..my favorite fragrance...not as much as the perfume at $260 an bottle, I got some that you dab on your wrists instead..for my purse. Wonder what Mrs. "Obama" will be getting for Valentine's Day.

A coalition of Democrats and some Republicans reached a compromise that trimmed billions in spending from an earlier version of the Senate economic stimulus bill. Among the funds eliminated entirely:

1. $55 million for historic preservation

2. $98 million for school nutrition

3. $10 million state and local law enforcement

4. $90 million for State and Private Wildlife Fire Management

5. $5.8 billion for Health Prevention Activity

I just find it ironic that the first things to be eliminated and considered unimportant are nutrition, health, public safety, care for our natural habitat, and preservation of our history.  They can bail out already wealthy people who make darn sure they still get their big bonuses, but they can't chip in a bit to ensure healthy food for our school children?  God help us.

It boggles the mind, Diana.  People in high places making these decisions, I feel, have their priorities completely the wrong way round, to the detriment of all of us.  It saddens and angers me greatly.

I was listening to people last night(radio) talking about this economy of ours , and they said that the people giving Obama the information and advice are the same ones that put us into all these problems to begin with..that he cannot make any "true" reforms until the guys up ahead of the line (mostly bankers) will accept the NEED for the common man to have wages to spend. Giving the bankers millions of dollars is not putting it into the pockets of the guy out on the street...to buy products with...to keep jobs on going. They think it's headed for failure already, because these guys under the terms of "investing" to make jobs will be REALLY using it as an excuse to "pocketing" even more money in the end. They have not proven that they will change,...though our President is asking everyone else to change...as always and from the start, they hold the "reins" as to what direction we are headed...no man is an island unto himself...rather they like it or not, neither are they. They felt the money would of been better spent just diving it up amoung the population and giveing it to them, to pay off as much debt as they could instead of the issues that were passed...things they felt would be just more" red tape" hassels in spending the alloted money...down to it's last dime more or less...with to few results of over all good...the bankers having more money to give more credit is not helping the guy that owes from the credit to pay it off.  Most peole realize it is not Obama's fault for all of this, and they know that unless the head honcho's running things both Governmnet and Private Industry don't get together to help the common public, that we are going down the tube, big time....and it's not just an "say so" it's an definate. It's going to take some spending, and some very wise saving... Some sharing also. It reminds me of an neighbor I had once, whom was always over here borrowing off me, and then the ONLY day I ever asked for something from her..she couldn't give it. It kind of did her in....as far as I was concerned. Where upon she moved. I guess she figured she couldn' t live off me any more...why stay around? That's not the way things are meant to be in life. We help each other in good times and bad times, understanding that each person will see those good times or bad times during their life also. this is what "broke" Russia, an "elect" group had it all, and everyone else had nothing. One day the elect woke up to see that everyone said "Why should we work hard..we get nothing for it!"...the country went broke almost over night. It did not matter that the Government ideal was to "share" prosperity..there was only an elect group there taking it all.  The downfall of all civilzed countries over thousands of years.
