I sure bombed big on mine, I just coulnd't find the right  book I guess. I did start one though, Prodigal Summer, by an Barbara Kingsolver...it's actually about three different lives of people, one an forrest ranger lady, the second an city gal turned farmer that looses her hubby, and the thrid about fueding elderly neighbors. The author was an biologist, so its detailed in plants and nature. I did pick up another book...called "The Prince of Time" though...it says about ths one...He's the last thing she expected--and she has waited for him all her life! It was written that her prince would be an mage, a warrior, and a saint. Instead he's an mercenary thief with an fondess for vice-filled dens and off-world wine. How can the sacred prophecy be wrong---or is there more to him? She is the one woman who can save an 12th centruy mage whose demise turned the earth into an barren desert. Followed by an ruthless villian that wants them both dead, Can they go back into the ancient past and survive it...they will need faith in each other, and trust born of passion willing to sacrific everything..even life itself---for love....(end).... I don't know if it would be to late this time around to start this book or not. I'm into 66 pages of the other book, but not wanting easily to want to read it particularly right now for some reason...thinkit would of been better ro read whiel on an summer vacation maybe.  How you people doing on books your  reading right now?

I am not a fiction reader, and personally, I think romance novels are to women what pornography is to men. Sorry, if that offends anyone; it's just my humble opinion.  My sister, Ronda, loves romance novels and I am always teasing her about them....much to her chagrin.Laughing

I think they tend to be Sue. But I was thinking more in terms of "fantasy" aspect of them. Aside from the obvious, most men (not all) enjoy pornography for the escape from reality, and the responsibility of working on a real relationship.

Women enjoy romance novels for the same reason. They present an unreal world populated by extraordinary characters living a fantasy that most couples will never realize.

I think both genres rob men and women of the ability to relate to each other as we really are.

Well, sweetie, once your into the retirement years, it's not quite like when you were younger, even if some guys still do function health wise...but there does appear to be much more indeptheness to the relationship and understanding...if you can get it to last that long...as one ages. If people knew the risks of Viagra, they'd probably never use it.  I still hearald from the time era when having sex was like playing "Russian Roulettee" to pregnacy..not like today's gals are put through. It always amazed me also how if your under 18 you MUST BE AN VIRGIN!...and over 18, out of High School.. it starts becoming an stuble daily remark.."When you going to get married?..Though that is changing also these days in ways. I was never into "Romance" novels to much, but my daughter in-law sure is in ways, I think to make up for skipping past the daytime soap box operas.. as she "works". Must be something about it, look at how popular "Desparate Housewives" is for an TV series. I just finished the romance novel...it was worth the read, only took an couple of days. Now it makes me wonder if any of these words they said were spellbound Druid words or not in reality. Well, on to the next Holiday, and mostly decorating for Eastertime coming up now in the house. Planting Season will upon us here soon you know..spring babies and what not..quick lived thunder storms?...hum..sudden spring bursts of rain. Umberellas, and tulip and other bulbs floruishing in spats of sunshine. Wonderful smell in the air of newly cut grass also. Each season is an delight..one of God's perfection in it for us all. Spring, the time of renewal, is coming. This month starts its transition days through March. Things to do around the house here. so need to go for now..

PS..I'd rather be "my age" then be something I'm not...and it is that I try to find the balance between what's me...and the world in general...in such an way that there is inner happiness and contentment, it sustains far longer then do many relationships with other people these days. For one thing, I've always worked and had to in ways, and it would be nice to have the means to do as I would like to do in talents I've held off for lack of time in doing them...as I said, I'm considering right now building me some bird house feeders..with babies coming up this spring, those mother birds out there could use an little help feeding their broods. They use to make an nest every year under the patio eves of the Master Bedroom balcony in the past...we could quietly sneak out there an count heads once in an while...tiny wee ones.

I think it's good that we all have different reading tastes. I'm glad you liked you romance novel Shirley, there are some awfully good authors out there, and it's great when you find one that you can read, and read again.

So Valentine's is over, what's next on the list?
