When I was young i was really interested in music although I have to admit that I rarely play now with all my other commitments!

I started playing recorder at 5 and when I was 6 my parents let me have piano lessons which I continued until I was 16 and passed quite a few grades. Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven finished my lessons off for good though - my teacher just wouldn't let me pass it - every week when he came I made a couple of mistakes so on the 16th week when he said I had passed I told him I had had enough and lessons were finished for good! I still played for fun though and I have my beautiful Spencer piano.

I also played cello at school from the age of 7 until 12 when I decided it wasn't very cool lugging a great big cello around school! The music teacher never forgave me! I played briefly for the Sandwell Youth Orchestra but it was hard to do school work, have piano lessons and have the commitment to the orchestra.

Smile

You lucky girl Stephanie! Smile I'm crazy about music, but I never got the chance to have a piano or a cello I could play. And lessons were far too expensive from what I can recall. Music isn't looked at as something important here, it's just a waste of time, most people say.

Everything I learnt I did it by ear: keyboards, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, Portuguese ukulele, flute... and I played for 4 years in an Universtity Tuna (not the fish!).Off wikipedia: "A University Tuna is a musical group in Spain, Portugal, Central America or South America, made up of university students. It is also known as a Tuna or Tunas if it is in plural."

Nuno already knows one of my dreams is to have a full set drum kit at home. It's been my dream since I can remember... Embarassed But I'm pretty sure I won't be able to play it right...

Oh Steph, I am so tone deaf it's unbelievable. I'm actually hard of hearing, (I have a loss of 50% hearing in both my ears.) I would love to have learned to play the electric guitar when I was younger. I always fancied myself as a bit of a rock star! LOL!

Good on you for your efforts. You too Nela.  You have both done well.

That's great, piano must have been so much fun to learn.

I tried to learn how to play clarinet, and sax but never really did catch on to it. :(

I would love to learn how to play piano!  My brother and sister both had lessons but I didn't. My brother would teach me some things on the piano though!

My sister has in her shed our childhood piano which is suppose to come to my house but has yet to happen. When it does, I plan on taking lessons!

As a child I always wanted to play the organ. But we could never afford lessons. I wished I could play piano or the organ. Would be lovely to sit and entertain myself.

Barb, you looked like a rocker in the motorcycle getup! Kiss Cool
