What on earth is happening to our children?

Just two articles from a choice of too many.

So many sad things in the news, but sustained attacks on such innocent, helpless little ones is heartbreaking.

I know children have been dying at the hands of parents for many years, but certainly it seems to have grown over these last few years.

Do you think that the availability of drugs is exacerbating these attacks on our precious children?

I think you are right Sue - drugs do play a part in this. Also the downward slide in moral values and the loss of religion in people's lives doesn't help the situation. The old expression "the fear of God" did used to hold some weight with people. The tradition family has mostly gone now and alot of the men who carry out these attacks are not the natural fathers. I know some wonderful caring step fathers who love their step children like their own children but the type of "mother" mentioned above flit from one man to another without a care for their children's welfare or safety getting pregnant by every one she meets so she can get more money for drugs off the state and get a better house paid for by the taxpayer.

Gordon Brown wanted to eradicate child poverty (a noble gesture I'm sure) so he has given them even more money to buy drink, drugs & cigarettes and the children are still not cared for - or even worse for some of them, terrible abuse at the hands of these animals. What do the "do gooder" judges do - reduce the sentences from murder to "culpable homicide" or manslaughter. It really makes my blood boil.

These and other stories like them are heart-breaking!  I have no doubt that you are right Sue, and that drugs play a large part. The other (and forgive me for blowing the moral trumpet) is a general lack of respect for responsible sexuality.

Many of these people have no business having children but they either don't know how, or don't care to follow safe sex practices, which in my opinion includes birth control.

I know where my own church (Roman Catholic) stands on the birth control issue but frankly, I'd rather see the prevention of unwanted children in the form of responsible birth control, than to witness the brutality and death of one more innocent child.

Well, I am sure to open a can of worms with this one, Ron. So let me preface what I have to say with the statement that I total respect everyone's personal beliefs and their right to believe it, however, what I am about to say will be highly disagreeable to many.

To answer your question Ron; I think it starts with educating the masses to think for themselves rather than turning their minds and their better judgement over to the church magistrates...which ever church it happens to be.

Oh gawd, don't get me started! I'm sick of these feral kids from parents who are just as wild. I live by so many of the devils. In the UK, it seems to be the  worse you are the better you are looked after. I know what I'd do if I was in number 10.....
