According to a survey conducted in Germany, young Germans if given the choice would choose their Internet connection and or their cell phones over their spouses.

Is that not a pathetic commentary on today? How sad is it when we prefer devices to human relationships.

The internet is some people's whole life now! It's an addiction of sorts. It does come between some people's relationships, albeit parent and children or partners. It is sad yes.

It's sad. The days of touchy feely love and sense of family are gone. Pretty soon the only way to communicate with one another is thru internet.

I'm afraid to admit that most of my friendships are thru the internet. I hardly see my family and the only people I hug are my girls. That's it. And oddly enough it's physical human contact that I crave the most!

Of course it is Krissy!  Baby's die if they don't get the physical affection that they need. Adults may not physically die with out physical touch, but emotionally we do.

Luckily I have a good balance of both - since I joined this site I feel it has opened up a world of opportunity to make friends that I would otherwise never have met. I would never let a "stranger" become my friend on Facebook - I use that just to keep in touch with people I already know from other places. But POE is special.

This is so true. It is so hard to make it through life without that physical contact. I don't even get hugs from my daughter and she won't let me hug her. The only time I get a hug is when I get to go see my mom and dad.

But I also agree with Stephanie. I have no close friends at home anymore. I have found that my closest and dearest friends are all on POE. I get my emotional support, friendship, humor, love and so on all here. If it wasn't for all of you I probably wouldn't be here. This is my family. My brother and I are on Facebook and when we are online at the same time he never says Hi! It is very painful when your real family ignores you!

I am the same way, Stephanie. I have a facebook account but I hardly ever go on it and when I do it's just to check up with old friends who have moved away or whom I have otherwise lost touch with.
