I just found out that Peter Tork of the Monkees has cancer.  I am heart broken. Peter was always my favorite Monkee...everyone else preferred Davy, but not me.  My prayers are with Peter and his family.

I was vey sad to read about this also on his website and we certainly wish him well and things will get better soon. For quite an intelligent chap, it's ironic he played the groups lovable dummy who wasn't the brightest bulb in the box. My favourite has to be Mickey Dolenz and his forever clowning about.

I guess fav songs would include I'm A Beleiver, I Wanna Be Free, Pleasant Valley Sunday, and Daydream Believer. For a little trip down memory lane---for some of us!---  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kG34bDwJcVc

A bit like on the radio the other morning they played I'm Telling You Now by Freddie and the Dreamers, though sadly Freddie passed away in May 2006.

sad.  i used to watch a kids programme called circus Boy starring Micky Dolenz when I was a boy. When I was a teenager he appeared as the drummer in the Monkeys, 4 lads put together to front records recorded by an unknown  pop group. Lead singer Davey Jones came from Manchester, England, Peter Tork I think was the one with the wooley hat. If you go on 'You Tube' follow the thread 'Home videos' and type in 'I'm a believer' 'Monkeys', you can see them play.

Wow James! I's surprised that you even know of the Monkeys, a bit before your time I'd say. That just goes to prove, good music never dies.

By the way, it's always good to see you here James.

Paul, thanks for posting that video...it made me smile.  I have to agree with you about Mickey Dolenz; how could you not like him? He's such a lovable clown!

You are right about Peter Tork, if I am not mistaken, he went on to become an English teacher to high school students!

Michael, Mike Nesmith was the one with the wooly hat.Smile Peter was the cute, quiet, blond.

I too have my favorite songs: Pleasant Valley Sunday, Last Train to Clarksville, I am Not Your Stepping Stone, and Listen to the Band, to name a few.Smile
