Congradulations Bob...I don't smoke either, and of course on the heart meds I'm on now, two say no drinking alcoholic beverages at all. Even coffee and tea is something suppose to be an "once in the while" because the cafeine draws up (tightens up) your arteries. But one an day or less won't hurt an person as for the cafeine (cup of). I think the smoking pot thing came of it's own with Silcone Valley and the "brain drain" teams they use to have in computerland...they felt they could relax better to think with marijuana. "Focus" better is what people  use to tell me why they liked to smoke it..but I never knew anyone that was heavily into the stuff either...most the people were professionals and not "kids" out for party time. They were descret in using it until California legalized it also.

This has been such an interesting debate Shirley - good thread idea!

I seemed a little one sided I know in my post - I'm usually famed for sitting on the fence! I can see everyone's points for legalising and they are good ones. However I have seen people I have known in the past start off smoking a little bit of pot and then graduating on to harder drugs and then having their whole lives ruined. As Jason said it is all about self control. Having children - especially one who is about to become a teenager - I worry about their futures and can only hope that by good example and zero tolerance they will grow up hating drugs as I do. In fact I got them to sit through a few programmes on television showing the medical effects of drugs, cigarrettes and alcohol - they were hiding behind the cushions- sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind!!!

Debbie, we had an gal at our nurshing home facilty (it was specialized) that was to the point of "screaming" constantly from her cancer pain..our director of nurses found and took her personally to the only known "acuptunturist" in the territory because the woman was on the highest dose of morphine they could give her without killing her...they literally deaden every nerve in her body that dealt around the Cancer pain..she not only didn't cry out in pain to where her whole wing could hear her.., but she at times reagained a bit of her mentality by having it done.. until she died. she was in the last stages. Now of course they are starting the "cell stem" organ implants in hopes some day many of us can literally have "Cancer" healed from that alone. I had my first shot of "morphine" in my life when I was in emergency passing Gall Stones...they could not get me to lay down any other way for the ultra sound machine to confirm it was Gall Stones for the pain involved. Operated and took stones and Gall Bladder out of all things..through my belly button area... they sucked them out...after breaking them up.  As far as I know "medical" Marijuana is allowed in the state of Oregon.

Very intresting Shirley i have not heard of this before. I had someone tell me about a acuptunturist to help with these muscle spasms i have in my neck but i have always been to afraid to go for it.

Bless your heart with the gallstones my mother had the same thing happen and i know the pain she was in was just horriable.Yell

Neither had I Debbie until this was done, I always thought acupunture was the way to go for pinched nerves maybe..but not so..they managed along with hypnotherapy to get my 40 year old father off smoking using it and acupunture.  they deaden his nerves so he wasn't jittery..had withdrawal symptoms also and of course talked to him in such an way that "nothing" was anything he couldn't handle. About 6 years of all kinds of other therapies and in one week they cured him right in his own home. He was one of those told to "stop" smoking or die. You should give it an try, you don't feel the needles at all...some are so tiny they make your regular vaccinnation needle look huge. No one should ever feel an needle going in, it's simply the laziness of someone not swiping the area with something to deaden the area  the same time they sterilze the area they are going to give the shot at..same goes for taking your animal to the vet, you get an doctor that makes it "hurt" these days, they don't know what they are doing. That was exatly what our director of nurses said also..we live in an time where having "pain" isnt' warranted by medical professionals.

I work in a probation office block. Cleaning. Not glamorous but needs must! I work damned hard between my 2 jobs.

Anyway, yesterday on my way into the probation offices there were offenders waiting for their appointment with their officers. One of the offender's girlfriend was waiting outside for him in their BENTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Drug dealers. (I heard so) No doubt there is a massive house with a large garage (probably with other cars in it)  somewhere in the suburbs. They make me sick!!!! Yell Who said crime doesn't pay?

PAH!!!!!

You can say that again, you know how can you tell your kids there's "role models" out there of success/leadership when they see this kind of thing going on..its near impossible. Really bad amoung the sports profession these days also. What we are teaching our kids is that crime pays..until your caught...after that it depends on how many people you can buy off.
