Is he kidding???!!!!!! Yell

ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE (AP) — Pope Benedict XVI said on his way to Africa Tuesday that condoms were not the answer in the continent's fight against HIV, his first explicit statement on an issue that has divided even clergy working with AIDS patients.
"You can't resolve it with the distribution of condoms," the pope told reporters aboard the Alitalia plane headed to Yaounde, Cameroon, where he will begin a seven-day pilgrimage on the continent. "On the contrary, it increases the problem."
Maybe it won't resolve the problem but it might help to curb the spread of this horrible disease!

Good point, John, but that's another issue all together. It's appalling how many diseases and unwanted pregnancies there are in this world because people are afraid to buck the Catholic church. I am Catholic btw...by choice, not by birth, but I don't agree with the powers that be on these points.

Nor me - it's very short sighted. I think the old pope was alot more forward thinking. I think though that alot of the men in Africa refuse to use condoms anyway - a cultural choice rather than religious. I feel sorry for the women who are not given a choice in the matter.

I'd give them a choice...don't come near me with that thing without a slicker on or you might be fishing the family jewels out of the nearest pig trough.

DIANA... the "Bushwacker"..LOL!  (no wonder they call her second name "Scarlet")

POPEs' right, he's talking morals as the answer... but much of their problems with sex is tribal, one taking over the other one, by way of rape to the women. It takes an higher mentailty to act better...much of the world isnt' up to it yet.

I agree with all.I cannot warm up to this Pope. One wishes he would take a more pro-active  stance on Dafur.
