Hve you been to Wrens Nest Jason? I love the fact you can fossil hunt there. I wish they hadn't built the horrible rough housing estate round it though!

Stonehedge, I think I did an paper about that one...concerning the compostion of the "blue" stones and their concern in Wales about being sacred in the past...and also the "what's above is below" theory of the star pattern above it. I am related to the "Salisbury family" here in the States that came from England. I think it needs to be considered worth seeing, the stones these days in all the monuments of the world era are deteriorating signifcantly these days. You need also to understand it's general history at least. I read an article one time in the newspaper and didn't keep it, I should of kept it, but they supposedly found an old and ancient "astrological" pattern on the Salisbury Plain that is different from the modern day zodiac chart symbology. Unless you do your research work ahead of time you will not be in awe, or understand what your looking at and it's significance. I would suggest "On-line" going to any of Glen Kimball's web sites...they are linked if you go to the archives at coasttocastam. com. He is an scholar on anicent history.

Well my husband really wants to see Stonehenge, do you guys think this is really worth the time? I mean i know there is history there but from what i hear you really cant get that close and i mean its just rocks standing?? i dont want to down play it by any means but is it really worth seeing???? This is something on my husbands "Bucket List"(things to do before he dies) so i fill we will have to do this but i thought i would get you guys input on this and see how far from London this is? Thanks!

Firstly you can get inside the Circle at Stonehenge; you can either arrange it yourself or go with a specialist tour company.  The visits are outside normal opening hours, either early morning or evening, Secondly the real trick is not to wait until you get there to discover something of its history and meaning, there are plenty of websites and books that provide information that will make any visit far more worthwhile.

see these links for arranging special access and for sources/books:

Hope you really enjoy you visit

So in brief, yes it’s well worth seeing, and it’s a far better experience inside the stones, but people who think its no more than a ‘bunch of rocks in a field; would be amazed if they knew something of how it was designed and built, and a little about the prehistoric community who built it.
