My son just bought shoes from Wal~Mart, and he has to wear them to work in. I've told him we'd help him pay for a more expensive pair, but he wants to be independent.

Besides, he doesn't believe me when I tell him he needs to wear good fitting shoes now, or he'll pay for it in his latter years.

I agree!!  Good shoes is something worth paying for. Payless has better shoes than Wal-Mart...it's a step up..no pun intended!!

Sadly we have few shops in this remote, rural town, so we'd have to travel the two and a half hours to the big city to get him good shoes. Still, I'd happily do it for him, especially seeing I've just undergone back to back foot surgeries, and don't want him to suffer the same.

Hi Sue!

Hi Krissy!

I couldn't agree with you more about taking care of your feet and wearing the best shoes you can afford.  I haven't had to have surgery but I do suffer with bunions from going bare foot and not wearing good shoes when I was younger.

Did you know bunions are hereditary from your mother, Diana?

I had no idea, Sue! I don't recall that my mother had bunions, but perhaps someone on her side of the family did. Genetics is fascinating isn't it?

It's more the way you walk that you inherit. The foot rolls inward, causing pressure on the bones, and they can then be pushed out of whack.

I just looked at the time of my last posting and it's 8 hours ahead of me now.  I take it you lot (in England) went on daylight savings time this past weekend?!?

I just skimmed thru last few pages of this thread and I saw you mention Makro.  I thought that was some made up store in Cornwall, because the only time I'd ever heard of it was when Denzil mentioned it.  lol

Wonder where he's got to......Cry

Yes we did Ruth - I remembered but still haven't caught up the hour - the hour forward always leaves us short of time for a few days! My Mom turned all the clocks backwards so my Stepdad had to spend more time putting them forward 2 hours!

Makro is a big cash and carry and you have to have a pass to go there (a bit of a self employment perk!) - we have one in Halesowen and there is one in Bristol.
