I think maybe going on outtings with the family we grew up, they had an son older then myself..Micheal, and one younger, Patrick...like all kids we did all sorts of things as they lived out in the country but had acreage with an stand of woods and we'd play "pioneers" more or less...amoung the huge rocks, making houses, and tree houses, and you name it. Stalking their cats for "wild game"..picking thier berries, raiding their garden for carrots, all sorts of things, sports, dancing to 50's songs...just dumb kid stuff. I was as much an "tom boy" back then as you could ever get...climbing tree branches and making "look-outs" along with the best of them.  My younger sister you have to undestand was what they call an "blue baby" when she was born, so she was frail most her life, hard of learning, and not much of an palymate..she stuck to my mother's side pretty much. so these two boys came as close to me as brothers could possbily get for playmates.

After that I guess you could say it was doing things with my hubby..as we were 13 years old when we met and hardly girlfriend/boyfriend at that age. It would take another 3 to 4 years before we realized girl-boy to it all...besides we were always chaparoned by my older sister growing up also.  I was talking to Dr. Sasson and explainging to him, I probably came as close to an "bethroal" as you could get for an "American" back in those days...Dr. Sasson is "Oriental". Joining "scouts" in an way put me back into those years of running with the guys in ways, and doing things in nature...playing survial. Of course much older by then and an bit different.. it had its simliarities. It made for memories. some really plseant ones, but can't dicuss them right now. It would take up to much bandwidth.

I have always loved nature, having grown up amongst it, but I remember the very first moment I knew I was going to become a bird watcher.

From my bedroom window, I looked out across the garden (we had 2 1/2 acres) and one of our cherry trees was in full blossom. In that tree were two Bullfinches, a male and female. I grabbed an old, battered pair of binoculars from downstairs and looked at those birds. The male's plumage was at the height of breeding glory and shone in the sunlight.

The next day I went into town and purchased a better pair of binoculars, and have been an avid birdwatcher ever since.

I was 22, so not quite a childhood memory, but close enough.

Playing card games and draughts with my dad. Sitting watching the wrestling on a saturday afternoon with my dad. Playing in the street with my friends, games such as May I? What's the time Mr Wolf? and Tick plus many more. I remember the penny sweet (candy) box in the local corner shop, also, pear drops, rose buds, Palma Violets and many more which must have been really bad for our teeth. Visting my family on the Isle of Anglesey, N. Wales. It was really exciting waking up in the farm house to the sound of cock's crowing and the cow's moo-ing at silly o'clock.

Oh I could go on, but I wont. Happy, happy days.

Oh the three O,Clock wrestling on a Saturday. How I hated that, but it was when the 'Sweet Tin' came out and we got our sweets. We weren't allowed sweets during the week, so it was special, even though we did have to eat them while watching Mick McManus, Ricky Star, Big Daddy and the like.

And I loved aniseed balls and barley twists, to name a few.

Sue..you got me thinking...

Rootbeer barrels, pixie sticks, candy buttons, wax lips, The Brady Bunch, silver treads of tinsel on the Christmas tree, Shrinky-Dinks, Ovaltine, riding my bike with the bananna seat and long orange flag, Dynamite Magazine, Freaky Friday at the drive in, The Tasty Freeze, Tang!, GI Joes, and the tire swing that we use to get so dizzy on!! And running thru the woods, and going to the lake and fishing and having to crossover the warm mushy patch of grass with the dead fish!!! OH..and Pringles!!!

Talking about memories, I bought myself the complete set of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. on DVD. 41 DVDs, I'm in heaven!

My very first crush was on Illya Kuryakin, my fist blooming into womanly feelings, though I must have only been seven or eight.

I still think he's a handsome man in CSI.
