I think it depends on what you interpert as "God".  What ever religion you follow, even new age spiritual things, its all based on the same principals....love, trust, honesty, and a willingness to live a good life and to do go to others. If you use all of these in a relationship coupled with being physically attracted to your partner then I think you have a great chance of making a solid relationship.

That's just my tiny take on it all.

Very well, put, Krissy.  I agree with everything you said here.  If you have a belief in a God who is the foundation of everything in your life, the God is also the foundation of your relationships too.  That kind of belief in God does not exclude him from anything in your life.  That's the problem with most religion - it instructs you to go thru a ritual or worship God on Sundays, but then put him back into his little box til next Sunday. I also think that when you hit a rough patch in a relationship, turning to your faith can help you get thru.  There's a really great prayer - Dear God, thank you for the grace and strength you give me each day to keep me from strangling my spouse.....lol  Tongue out

Inspired lately, I am writing a play about love in old age....where  passions of early years have transformed into an acceptance and tenderness between two lovers. There is an understanding of love,  truly a confluence of hearts..an often silent gesture, wordless....

No outside glue will hold this love...only a quiet, peaceful knowledge.

I've seen religion destroy many relationships/marriages.

My personal opinion is that when people are doing everything right, making all the right decisions and then all of a sudden they screw up, they say, "It's God's will."

Uh...excuse me? YOU just screwed up, it was YOUR fault.

Our relationship is built on trust, love, and respect. Just like the "fire triangle," you remove just one of them and it's finished.
