First, I'd try not to vomit and then I would discretely cover the critter with a lettuce leaf and push the salad to the side hoping they wouldn't notice that I wasn't eating it.

Failing that I would tell them I am allergic to pets, especially when they are trying to eat off my plate.

Hi Diana,

I would ask how it was done, saying I liked my cockroaches 'medium rare' then I would ask for some tabasco sauce.!

Then crawl under the table and be sick!

Ray, I would ask for it well done...you don't want the squishy insides bringing on a gag reflex too soon.

Jason, I agree, finding a whole cockroach in your salad is better than finding half of one. With a whole one you might be able to contain the gag reflex until you can get to the bathroom, but half a cockroach would probably bring on involuntary projectile vomiting.

Debbie, I think they give crash courses for handling these type of situations with decorum. While puking is understandable, screaming at your in-laws the first time you're meeting them is not a good thing.
