The one he is using now is made by Mitsubish....thier plug-in I-MIEV...it's scheduled for sale this summer (in Japan) for $30,000....but....Obama is allowing an $7,500 tax rebate and the governor is proposing possibly another $1,500 state rebate for buying electric cars... because they are over-priced to the consumer that needs them the most...this particular car gets 100 miles per charge, The "Think car" can go 62 miles per hour an has an range of 112 miles..they are thinking of Oregon as an production plant of this car in the future. It looks much like an small "Rabbit" Volkswagon...the other is an bit more sylish and contempory looking lines ..more like an small Ford focus. Tesla's electric car is of course the sport car look we all love in an electric car, the modle S after tax rebates they think will bring it down to $50,000. It will debut in 2011. It would take an under $15,000 for me to buy one new, with tax incentives the way our economy is going right now. but our Govenor's actions are making them look more handsome to own all the tme, I would still want one that was gas operated for long istance travel though.(2-car family)..within 500 miles..or an once yearly vacation. If you link into our Portland. .SUSTAIN@NEWS .OREGONIAN.COM.......Friday April 24, 2009, you can see color pictures of the cars and an article telling you all about them. (For some reason the other half of this addy won't highlight to make it an complete link. As I've said before most likley how my troll acesses my web site. It's between what I post and when it gets posted)... I do see promise in them as an future though..if they keep those prices down..way down..under $15,000, they could turn them over like hot-cakes someday....thier high prices is what has ruined them in car manufacturing here. No one but the wealthy ...that can write off the cost... can afford them... No, they have not been paying the prices they expect the average consumer to have to pay for years now. Hope you enjoy this article from The Oregonian newspaper. Tell me what you think.
