Believe it or not I had an ex-boyfriend,(dating my best friend at the time)anyway I being scared trying to hurry and all 3 of us(we were camping) trying to climb under the bridge,I stumbled a tripped, he grabbed the back af my shirt, and kept me from falling, had I fell, I would have landed on my pregnant baby, (in my stomach) and smashed her as I rolled down the hill to the creek, a good 20-30 ft down. Angelia and I heard a roaring, we looked at each other in panic as we were both pregnant, (2 months difference between us) He told us it was just the wind, to keep us from freaking out, later figured out he lied to keep us all calm, but it was a tornado(getting goose bumps now on my arm) just above us on the ridge, about 1 miles difference from us and it. He showed us the next morning, just how close we came to dieing. My daughter is healthy and now 11.Her son last I heard was doing fine. I could tell another story, but beside the point I hope and pray Debbie, that you are okay. |

They can be very scary, especially when you don't even know one is coming. The town I live in is very small, all we had at the time was just a radio,to listen to, (I got divorced & he took his t.v.) there was a tornado coming, the police were driving up and down the streets blaring the sirens and honking there horns, I was in panic, as I didn't know what was going on. I seriously first thought war, and this was it God, I was ever so scared. The kids and I shot straight to our van, night clothes and all, we really looked rednecked, headed straight to the school, as its the only good shelter here in our small town, we were all (the towns people) packed in there like sardines in a can, but we felt save. Then it dawned on me, if this building collapses, as old as it is, we will all die. I now either go to my neighbors house, or we ride out the storm in the hall way. We live in a sturdy house now, then we lived in a rough falling apart, leaky trailer house. Our storm cellar most of the time sits in 1-3 ft of water, its snake-y looking, we don't go in it anymore. |
