Hi all.

Krissy, I'm so glad that your mum is on the mend. Really good news. Smile

Don't get me started on hair....straight....frizzy.....***SIGH*** Someone is going to have to point me in the right direction of a good hairdresser in NY! If mine just curled it would be ok, but frizz is a no no! Frown

I have sat in all afternoon waiting for workmen that, as usual, have not turned up! I am so angry! My mum wanted me to go see her today and I said I couldn't. She's 83 and needed some things from the shop. Someone is going to get the length of my tongue! Yell

Hi Babs!!! There are lots of salons in NYC but they would be very expensive! I hear straighting (sp?) hair is super expensive!!  do you use an anti frizz serum? I use it sometimes when my hair is out of control!

Babs, just use an anti-frizz serum as Krissy suggested and get yourself a good ceramic/ionic (?) flatiron (hair straightening appliance).  They don't have to be expensive and certainly cost less than a NYC hairdresser.  Conair and Remington make some good ones in the USA.

I also thought of you when I read the attached article about ten things NOT to do in NYC:

And if you fancy some authentic British food, particularly fish & chips, this place in Greenwich Village comes highly recommended:

Hope these links work for you and I hope you have a fab time in the Big Apple!

Hi there, Jason, you'd be "used" out here right now..6 teens to kids have tried to drown themselves since Sunday, couple of have managed to do it. Our record setting 107 degress is starting to affect our computers is why I'm here, I was having problems last night. We hit an new record as of yesterday since 1942. But it is, I may end up going to an motel yet, this is getting to me. We have another 107, then an 103, and then 100 degrees and all in the 90's pretty much next week as it is...we just finsihed off 106, 103, 102, and 100 degrees. Most of Oregon unless your an business hasn't air conditioning. So people are flocking to where they think its cool, they are drowning in boating accidents, one fell off an waterfall hiking trail to his death, an little kid almost drown in an muniple swimming pool....all looking for relief from the heat. What's bad is that ususally we cool off nights, not so, we set records for that also, being some 74 degrees at its coolest in the night...iit's been 100 degree by noon here. I go for now...just thought you should know, if I'm not here for an bit you all know why.

Krissy, Barbara, I do use straightening serums, I think I have one of every brand going! I also use straightening rods. It makes no difference though LOL! When my hairdresser (chris I love you) blows my hair, it can stay straight for up to a week. Once I wash and blow it though, that's when the problems start. I'm not very good at blowing! You have to pull my hair very tight around the brush for ages. I don't have the time usually. My hair is horrendus, I can't wait for 1980's big hair to come back, I'll stand a better chance then. HEHE!

Barbara, thanks for the links, I shall go have a look now. I'm sure I will have a great time in the Big Apple. If I can avoid British food, I will do. I just want to be all American for 6 days! (Although I loathe burgers, so will be giving them a wide berth)Smile

Just wishing everybody a great day.

I am off to see my mum today. She lives about 10 minutes walk from me. She is 83, looks much younger, is in pretty good health, eats for Britain, has her own pc and has friends in Canada, America and Ireland and also uses a mobile/cell phone! That is much more than some of my friends can do! Not bad eh?

Ciao!
