Marianne, I don't know how I missed this post but I am so sorry to hear this news. As you may remember I had to put my Merlin to sleep in June of last year. The minute I got back home after doing the dirty deed I jumped on my computer and opened a thread here on POE. Like you I needed to share what had happened and to be comforted by my friends. POE played a significant part in helping me through that difficult time and I want you to know that we are here for you too.

It's such a heart breaking thing to go though and most all of us here have been there. My prayers are with Rosie as well as you and your family.

So sorry for the loss of your sweet kitty.  I, too, love my pets almost as much as I do my human children, and it's very painful to have to say goodbye to them.  I choose to believe that we will see them again "over the rainbow bridge".  My cat is getting up in years and I know I will hate losing her someday.  You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.  (((((((((((((((Marianne))))))))))))))))

Oh you guys are brilliant-I am overwhelmed by everyone's good wishes-thank you so much.  Diana, I can understand you coming onto POE after Merlin was put to sleep because sometimes, although friends and family are supportive, talking face to face about the death of ones pet can hurt like hell.  I find it easier to write about it and I know that my POE friends will be compassionate and understanding because they have experienced the trauma too.

We still have Callie who is 7 and Murphy who is now 13 and I dread losing either of them.  Barbara, funnily enough, a friend sent us a beautiful poem about Rainbow Bridge.  We have an animal charity called Cats Protection here in the UK and in their magazine, there's a Rainbow bridge page where people can remember their kitties who have died.

Neil and I have decided that we would like to adopt another cat.  Rosie is irreplaceable-all cats are characters and she was such a funny little girlie but we want to offer a loving home to another rescued puddycat so we are going to look around our local rescue centres in a few days time.

Thank you all for being here-you are wonderful people. xxxxxxxx
