So what about your names Andrew (Andy), Barbara (Babs), Deborah (Debs), Jack (John), Frederick (Fred), Sarah (Sadie) and so on. Do people judge us by our name? |

I think people do get judged but only because you associate people with names...say you knew a Helen but didn't like her so now every Helen you meet, you will associate the two...make sense. I personally do not like my name. I get Kristine, Krissy (mostly by family) and most of all I dislike Kris. Too masculine. Now see...I like the name Harold. I do...but if I had a boy and named him that he would be laughed at in this day in age..because it is associated with an elderly person...or a nerd. |

But I HATE it when people persist in calling me Diane, especially when I have corrected them once already. I think that is just plain lazy and disrespectul. Diane is a completely different name from Diana. |

I do think people get judged by their name initially. As Krissy says, when we hear a name we tend to associate it with others we have known by the same name. That being said, I think that once we have come to know the new person, the old associations slip away and we think of the name differently. |
