For example Ronald (Ron)

Further, I only ever got called 'Ronald' by my Mother when I was in trouble!

So what about your names Andrew (Andy), Barbara (Babs), Deborah (Debs), Jack (John), Frederick (Fred), Sarah (Sadie) and so on. Do people judge us by our name?

Good question. I think people do get judged but only because you associate people with names...say you knew a Helen but didn't like her so now every Helen you meet, you will associate the two...make sense.

I personally do not like my name. I get Kristine, Krissy (mostly by family) and most of all I dislike Kris. Too masculine.

Now see...I like the name Harold. I do...but if I had a boy and named him that he would be laughed at in this day in age..because it is associated with an elderly person...or a nerd.

My youngest brother calls me "Di" and I don't mind that at all. But I HATE it when people persist in calling me Diane, especially when I have corrected them once already. I think that is just plain lazy and disrespectul. Diane is a completely different name from Diana.

I just realized I didn't really answer your question. I do think people get judged by their name initially. As Krissy says, when we hear a name we tend to associate it with others we have known by the same name. That being said, I think that once we have come to know the new person, the old associations slip away and we think of the name differently.
