True to an extent, but i've been to many horrific RTC's involving bikes, and there has been a big age range!

Your right about the vunerability, very exposed on a bike! gets me when you see people wearing shorts and t shirts!! Surprised ouch!

Like i said there are some very good riders out there, and i've not got a problem with bikers wanting to open them up and have a play, but its having the good judgement to know the time and place to do it!

Jason, I've had motorbikes since I was 17 and I'm now into my late 50's, the main problem in approximately the last 20 years has been young car drivers wanting to go faster than a Ford Escort will let them. As sports bikes (crutch rockets) generally have far greater acceleration and top speed than a lot of cars, unless you go into the higher price range, they are a much cheaper option for the "4 wheeled" driver to get his kicks, trouble is they don't know how vunerable they are on 2 wheels until it's to late !!

Regards.

Jason, I think you and I are on the same wave length on this one. Granted, there are those motor cyclist who always obey the rules of the road and are considerate drivers, but they are the exception in my experience.

I am afraid I just can't stand them. I won't even date a man who owns a bike. Lol.

Its not that i hate them, i have friends with bikes, i actually work with one regulary! as i said before there are a lot of very good riders out there.  Its just there does seem to be a large amount of idiots or just incompetent people that own/ride them, my friends with bikes agree. We all have to go out to them, so see the bad side!

I was a biker most of my adult life, age 17 to 40s. Out of the 30 or so that I used to ride with, there are only three of us left alive. And one of them walkes with a very bad limp. He left his kneecap embeded in the road. I am still a biker at heart, but they now scare the life out of me when they overtake on my side of the road, heading towards me at God knows what speed. Some of my mates died hitting cars that pulled out from side roads into thier paths. It is not always the biker to blame, but the car drivers who dont look properly. They may spot the car coming, but rarely the bike.

I gave up riding bikes a few years ago now. And my reason? The idiot car drivers mainly. There are good and bad on both side of the two or four wheel argument and cars are just as much to blame. Anyway,at my age, bikes are too cold in the winter. Lol. So I will stick to my car.

Sorry to hear about your friends Peter.

I was taught one thing by guys who do ride bikes...keep a good distance away! If a motorcycle should hit a rock or any thing on the road the chances of them wiping out is great! Too close and you could run them over. So I agree with you Peter...most times it is the drivers fault. That's what happened to my friend who lost his leg...driver ran a red light and slammed right into him!

I am sorry to hear about your friend too, Peter.

I agree, there are just as many, if not more, idiots behind the wheels of cars.  But I still don't like motorcycles. lol. Although, if you came roaring up to my house on one, I just might reconsider. Wink
