We are sadly losing some of our great Black Country comedians too Toby. I think the Great British characters are on the decline.

You're so right Stephanie... as we slowly lose all of our greats like 'Benny Hill, Tommy Cooper, Eric Morcambe' etc. there are simply no new personalities emerging, hence the dire lack of 'entertainment' programs. I guess this is why 'Britains got talent' is so popular, if nothing else, it's entertaining.Undecided

Oh yeah, Peter, real simple.  lol  (great stuff, though!)

I mentioned the movie Quadrophenia on the biker thread.  I only watched that movie for 15 minutes and had to give it up because I couldn't understand a word.  Like, ya know?

There are so many different accents here in the UK and each area has it's own language within each area. In the Black Country you can even tell which town people are from as the accent and words used vary slightly between the towns! I went to school in Rowley Regis and they used to think I was posh because I come from Haden Hill! You should be OK though when you eventually meet me Ruth - Cathy managed to understand me!

That's what's so cool about the UK, Stephanie!  I'm sure I'll understand you. I had a bit of trouble with Last of the Summer Wine until I got used to it.

Remember this you posted last year?

Lovely to see you this morning Ruth! You just caught me - I've got to get the boys up for school now - thanks for the comments by the way! The sunset was out of my bedroom window.

Yes the Black Country alphabet - that will help everyone translate what I say!

Lovely to see you too, Steph.  Yes, it was an awesome sunset.  From what I understand, "awesome" is an American word, innit?  lol

But here's a bit of Yankee slang - I'll be toast tomorrow if I don't get my buns into the sack, ASAP,  (11:12 PM here Wed. night).

Seeya Stephanie - and Smile

I think that smiley is American for "have a nice day!"
