I like that law too  Rick. Think we will move over there with you- like the idea of being able to shoot them!

The police don't carry guns here Ruth. In fact the ones who patrol aren't even proper police with arresting powers - they are called Community Support Officers. They wear a uniform & can move people on, take names & addresses or call the proper police if it gets out of hand. They walk on foot - they told me the other night they used to have bicycles but they have had them taken off them since the one female CSO went out of control on her bike down a hill so they can't use them in case they get hurt - can you believe it!!!!

Thanks for everyone's support. I think the thread has also made an interesting discussion. It has certainly showed us all how much the law differs between countries & for that matter between states in the US.

You need some fathers over there like my dad, he had an amazing way of letting you know what he expected of your behavior. He never had to scream or make an scene, you just "knew" when he said.."Get it straightened out...now"..... that he meant it down to the core of your soul I guess.

..though I do remeber the day when sitting at the dinner table my sister made the mistake of saying "throw me an bsucuit" instead of saying "pass the biscuits to me please"...and he got up and he SLAMMED an biscuit into her chest..and said..."There,,,you got one!"
