Especially from a lot of what I've been reading on this website recently - it's the good guys who get in trouble. Yes, it's an administrative headache, but sometimes you just can't fight city hall. You not signing the next one probably won't make the administrative mess go away, but maybe you and your colleagues could make the suggestion as a process improvement that the paperwork could be done away with because you have the logs. Maybe submit it as a "bright idea." Sometimes things that are very simple need to be pointed out the the bureaucrats.

I don't kow how far off in your work soemthign liek this would be for you...but anything that cuts down the papaerwork is got to be better. I'd do wha tthey say until you can discuss it at some meeting perhaps in "cost cutting" where they need the new ideas to consider. The recording devices can still be transcribed if another doctor wants to order it though. It can also be used in the court system also...so hearing the doctor's voice leaves little in the way of doubt, as to the doctor's prescise orders by the staffing. I was in an court case where this happened, and the doctor said...discharge patient when all routine manners have been met that allow safe discharge. So it was left to the descretion of the nursing staff, though the patient was suing the doctor for mal-practice at the time. The nursing staff insisted they kept calling the doctor but could not reach him...and they felt that they "left" holding the responsibilty of it all. But in some ways, I would of thought the doctor would of had an back up assistant of some kind at the hospital for an emergency condition. The REAl problem was, this patient wanted to smoke an cigarette, which had to be done outside on the patio...so she removed herself against knowledge of the nursing staff to smoke.. and started hemoraging from surgery. Well, they ended up having to take her back in to repair this...she wasn't suppose to be moving about...and she decided to sue the doctor for this second operation to stop the bleeding and fix the problem she created. She did not win her case by the way...we felt that the hospital should of kept an better eye on her, but her doctor had left her in thier hands...and she was counter productive to her own healing on her own...we sided with the doctor..not guilty of mal-practice. |

I think it is disgusting Jason but I have found that fighting just doesn't get you anywhere these days. Wish it did - I have always believed in fighting for your rights and what you believe in but all it will get you is those points on your licence and a big headache. |
