That's a long time for you to be away from us, Diana. I hope you have fun things planned, and nothing not so fun.

What are you doing for Thanksgiving (Diana and all Americans)?

I'm cooking dinner for my kids and a few friends; turkey breast with the usual trimmings and pies (traditional pumpkin and southern pecan).

New Moon maybe?

My husband's family here in town are getting together for a good old bun fight. None of the out of towners are coming which is sad.

I forgot what that was about Sue. Can you refresh my memory? Elsie wants to see "The Blind Side" about a football player taken in by a family and ends up becoming one of the Baltimore Ravens.

I have the fixin's but haven't heard if anyone had an plans this year, we have all been that busy this year. If they aren't doing anything, we can have something here, if they are, we (hubby and I) can go out and eat dinner this year. Actually its easier to go out Thanksgiving I think over here then it is Christmas...as most places are closed over Christmas. Rather here or not, I'll most likely cook one turkey just for the days afterwards. We have an Macy's parade, and Downtown tree lighting in Portland, and an host of HGTV Holiday shows that are "new" this year, and sale ads galore going on and sports games going on....all weekend long. There is my thing of an classic "Norman Rockwell" sandwhich you know....with my seven layer salad meal. Pumpkin pie or Chocolate brownie or both.

Sandwhich....light Rye bread..layer of mayo, letttace, sliced fresh tomato, Swiss cheese with holes in it(ggod stuff) , smoked turkey, cranberry sauce, second layer of light Rye bread with soften cream cheese...put it all together, cut it in half

7-layer salad....from bottom to top...lettace..sliced radishes, cucumber, green onions..(some people like green peppers)..next layer...add on frozen greens peas, can of sliced water chestnuts, top with mayoniase or salad dressing, sprinkle layer of shredded cheddar cheese, top with cumbled bacon, top with chopped fresh tomato, top spareingly with chopped parsley...then edge the entire thing in halves of boiled eggs...you can "devil egg" them if you'd like...take one round tomato, start in peeling the skin off, with an liittle flesh with it,, in one continous peel..when your done, curl up the peeling backwards, and tightly so it makes an huge rose and set it in the center...cover with plastic wrap. This salad ususaly holds well for several days...if your lettace is dry when you stat it. It can be made the night before.  When you serve it, take down to the bottom in one scoop so you get an bit of each layer...ti should taste like an green salad, an pea/chestnut salad, and Bacon, Tomato, cheese salad...all in one..don't be skippy on the mayo, each ingrediant should cover an layer at least lightly...more so on the lettace, peas, mayo, cheddar cheese, chopped tomato.  Keep refrigeratored when not being used.Top off with an pumpkin pie and whip crream or some other kind of desset and it's truly an meal of its own. Sandwhich/salad/dessert. This is an good "serve yourself" type meal through out the day also..for little kids, make it more simple. Try an turkey/cheese melt, veggie sticks and the dessert...unitl they are old enough to eat this kind of an hearty meal...maybe some soup also, or other leftovers as desired. This meal  goes well with leftover stuffing and gravy and/or baked beans as well. You can smoke and cook the Turkey an day ro so ahead also...and do the pies and brownies ahead also. Except for the salad, The main items all freezes well also. (Such as turkey and stuffing/beans)
