I guess Jasper Carrott had to have a sense of humour having been born in Shaftmoor Lane, Acocks Green. He does support a handicapped childrens school near Stourbridge.

Well, Boston's Faneuil Hall isn't called the cradle of liberty for nothing. To name a few well known personages who have graced our city (or nearby cities): John Adams (second president of the US), and his son, John Quincy Adams who was the 6th president of the US; both were born in Braintree, MA, 12 miles south of Boston. Samuel Adams (cousin to John Adams) statesman, philosopher, and one of the "sons of liberty" born and lived in Boston. Susan B. Anthony; JFK and the entire Kennedy clan; Paul Revere of Longfellow's "Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" fame, who also happened to be an excellent silver smith by the way, and many of his pieces survive today in Boston museums. Henry David Thoreau; actress Bette Davis was born in nearby Lowell, MA; Edgar Alan Poe was born in Boston; Benjamin Franklin to lived in Boston and during the summer I have even seen him on Boston's subways! ;-) Lol.

Steph's mention of Corrie reminded me in 1975 when a friend of mine went up there to burn down the mail order factory where Edna Gee was killed after celebrating her 40th birthday in The Rovers.

He also is listed in the credits of the first Superman film for Special Effects; he worked at Pinewood Studios where he gave me a tour of the Superman set/s that were still there  as well as part of a James Bond one.

Alice Cooper doesn't live too far from me.  I've seen him at a few events around town.  One was a talk at Scottsdale Bible Church.

Alice Cooper! Oh wow! I was a HUGE fan of his when I was a teenager. I had many of his albums; he was an excellent artist. Once you got past his bizarre outfits and on stage antics, he really had some great music and solid lyrics.

I don't know much about Alice Cooper and I only like about 3 of his songs. Lol. But I admire the fact that he has remained married to the same woman for more than 30 years and is reportedly a devoted husband and father, not to mention a pillar of support for his local community. Also, I loved the back to school advertisements he did for TV...hilarious!

Alot of the local celebs support Sunfields at Clent- also Josie Lawrence and I think Chris Tarrant does too. Barry Carpenter was the Principal there and he went to Rowley Grammar with my sister & Josie Lawrence so I guess that is how she got involved Paul.

Rowan Atkinson aka Mr Bean of course!

I knew that, Ron  ,

I confess, I've never seen him around the village though. Have you?

Oh yes, even Mr Bean needs delivery, postal, GP services etc. Really talented bloke I reckon.
