Does anyone remember Reginald Alfred John Truscott-Jones, born in Wales in 1907 and died in 1986? He once served with the Household Cavalry and became well-known for a particular line of work involving the visual arts. Who was this man? My favourite: Pictures \| Towns \| Attractions

I was 15 in 1980, 16 in 1981, 17 in 1982, 18 in 1983 and 19 in 1984 - that makes me a teenager in the 80's!!!! He hailed from South Liverpool as did all four Beatles, his nearest neighbour probably being Ringo Starr. His management "stable" run by Larry Parnes also included Marty Wilde, Vince Eager, Johnny Gentle & Adam Faith (remember them Ron?). I don't recall him singing Great Balls Of Fire to HRM but he was known for his provocative stage movements which he was forced to tone down. Later turned to pop ballads such as Halfway To Paradise for which is mainly as he is remembered now, which is a bit of a shame, as his self penned "rockers" are gems. Bought a house for his parents and named it Wondrous Place after one of his early hits. In his later career he appeared with Ringo & David Essex in the movie That'll Be The Day. His backing band for quite a while were The Tornadoes of "Telstar" fame. A fine sculpture of Billy can be seen near the Albert Dock overlooking the Mersey where he worked briefly as a tug hand.
