Shirley mentioned a murder in her home town in the Good Day thread - a sheriff's deputy who shot his wife and other family members and friends.

I have noticed an increase in people murdering their children over here - just yesterday a mother was arrested in Birmingham for killing her 3 year old daughter with toxic substances and a couple of weeks ago a man drove his son and daughter into the river in Evesham and he has been arrested for murder as the little girl died the day before yesterday - she amazingly survived 2 hours trapped in the car under water but has lost her fight for life.

I keep wondering what is causing all of this as it is on the increase. Maybe it is linked to the financial crisis - what do you think?

All the above also applies to South Africa, financially and criminally - it seems to be a global dis-ease. I cannot imagine why anyone would kill their own children unless they feel that the world is not worth living in, but then why have them in the first place? My husband was hoping to move us to a retirement village but there is no hope of selling our house at the moment or in the forseeable future.

I think it is all a snowball effect. Remember how things were so cheap when we were growing up. But the cost of living keeps going up and the salaries are not rising to meet it. Puts a lot more stress on families along with the loss of work and the products being sold going down the tubes. What can you buy these days that is made in your own country? Not very much. Life in general is too fast these days. Too any things to do and no down time. Nobody has time to relax and clear their heads. It is a wonder the population is being effected with depression and anxiety. Too many people suffering from it these days. Wasn't like that when I was growing up.

Stress and finacial breakdowns leading to broken relationships. People wont realise that the credit crunch is only a tempory thing and recovery will come in time. Ride the wave, cut your cloth accordingly and settle for second best until you (and everyone else) recover. if the breakdown is due to a third party (and it usualy is), then talk about it together or with a councilor. Agree to disagree or reach a sensible compromise. forgive if you can, and work on the relationship. Social websites and texting cell phones have a lot to answer for, just like Drink and gambling, if  you think you'll become addicted stay clear of them. THINK how YOUR  weakness will affect your children or family and stop being selfish and thinking of only yourself.Innocent

No doubt about it there are some very nasty people out there! But how on earth can they hurt the children, why?

I think its "microwave pulsing" that is re-arranging an lot of people's brains "oddly", but there are five major countries that have this technology right now. Perhaps an kind of invisible "war" going on..what better way would there be to de-populate an area silently, then to have it kill itself off.  This is day five this murder has been on local major news...another of her friends was trying to say that he was an violent man and she feared his temper, or she would of left him beforehand...it was him that filed for an divorce. In the meantime, his boss was on the news, and said, as an police "Sargent" he was constantly evaluated for his mental phsycology and passed all the tests as he could see for being "normal" under stress of his job...he did not rule out that the guy could not have gone "beserk".. but was not buying he kept his wife in "bondage" because of an bad temper. If she stayed... it was perhaps because she didn't want to work outside the home...but he himself could of left, and never did, I mean their neighbors had said they never heard an argument between them prior to the killings...no cops ever showd up for domestic violence either. I think it was outside manipulation with "micro-wave pulsing"....and so goes, last night the grandson "wet the bed'...when I first came in my computer had two task bars on my computer, I had "odd" dreams last night also, been fighting to gain control of even the mouse on this computer to use to type anything in an post, I've lost my genealogy web site, my e-mail servers, (nearly lost my third one recently) and a gal I use to talk to recently, and now earthboppin web site, unexpectedly,... they tried to take POE couple of weeks ago, but your people were to well protected apparently, but I did come across an "blank page" after I posted, I went to when trying to post one day, then another one showed up as if someone had been looking over the yahoo "news" page, they took over my yahoo server e-mail ..besides this murder, one week to the day prior, another murder took place in the same area, and likewise ended up in sucide, no one knew the people involved is why it wasn't all over the news. Other night, in Portland two "gay gals" I think, way it sounds anyway, got into an arguemnt so bad they sent each other into the hospital "fighting" before cops could break them apart, one is now suing the other. It's been an steady stream of people and kids dying, people robbing stores, no mask, not trying to hide who they are in front of the cameras either. Weird weather to boot also. The political civil right's advocate the Rev. Jesse Jackson showed up in town last night to support the colored people on the police killing an "sucidal" black man last year, he had an history of mental problems and crime. The blacks have been saying our police are to "gun happy" these days...In an 700 page police report, it was said the gun that fired an killing shot to this man was done so because the police officer thought he "heard" another gun shot taking place, aimed toward the police at the time. But in the meantime, toddlers are dying crossing the street in their strollers by their mothers, as cars careen into them, ...werid stuff like that...as if there is an short time "Lapse" in  people's thinking and actions by "something" controlling them. Maybe those "step-in" aleins have arrived perchance. Though I beleive right now it's micro-wave pulses(causing tiem warps for the most part..DNA oddities) ...they are coming out of the Redland area south of me..and I think the radio towers on the hills behind us...but I know for certain an area near Redland...Rusties' anomalites web site caught it, it was the day of G. W. Bush's' second election. It makes the third time....and the third time I ended up in the hospital with heart and leg related problems. Since it is they report these ussually week to two weeks after the episode they catch, I know it wasn't me making this all up and I xeroxed off the graph of the radar pulse, and I took it to the justice center one time when I was doing that murder trial as an witness...showed some of them. I also sent other copies of it out to other people, because as you know...most the people alive back then are now dead. They had sudden heart attacks also. People that report such things. Rather we have natural ones incoming I'm not sure, but in this case, it was south of me near Redland area and it covered most all of Porltand/Vancouver area the day of his election...from Mt .Hood to nearly the coast. I was by then so "sick" I couldn't get out of bed to go vote...I went to the hospital instead. Obama still won by an landslide...even without my vote, just like the recent one to make the wealthy (mostly our local electric company conglamorate)  pay an better share of their profits from loop-holes they take to not have to not pay them...it is such an issue now, the public is in arms nearly over taxation and loop holes and bonuses for the wealthier to get "stinking" rich these days...not just rich. WE are now paying nearly 46 or 49 per cent of every dollar we make to an Government hat is literaly "breaking us" with obama's "Hand out the paycheck" attitude...that is if we have jobs at all.  In the case of the micro-wave pusling they are coming from our own Govt/military complexes...a lot like Chemtrailing when it first started also....mind control and "killing" tecniques are going on. We pray for Gods "protection" from these sources. We were lucky to get Bush out of office before he passed that the Govt. could lock people up from saying htey were mentally ill....trying to tell the truth on this. Doctors are now being able to distinguish between real mentally ill symptoms and mind controlling techiniques going on these days. For those of you that don't know, voices, with suggestions beign given to you, depleted of  or an lack so sleep, sexual harassment of some kind mentally or otherwise, "usury" of people and of course being programmed to harm your family. They said often that many times people think it's the neighbors doing something to them. All of these could easily be said to be mental problems also, but are not. They are people being "mind controlled" by an satelitte somewhere or other sources.

I am a bit concerned that the post immediately above is not attributed to a named member, would someone please tell my why this is. That is if anyone knows of course.

Our regular named contributors above all make very valid comments with which I would heartily agree. Over the years it has fallen to me on several occassions to try to provid support and understanding to persons suffering from the ailments mentioned and the point I would make is these people may be seriously ill but maybe unable to recognise it and this can be where the heart of the problem lies. Once the  problem is acknowledged by the sufferer then action can be taken and treatment obtained.

A massive search for a baby believed to have been thrown into a freezing river by her estranged father is resuming in the United States.

Shamsiddi Abdur-Raheem, who snatched his daughter from the arms of her grandmother while the child's mother was obtaining a restraining order against him, told police he threw the baby off a bridge and into a New Jersey river.

Getting back to the subject at hand, I wonder if things are really getting worse or if these crimes have been with us all along and they're just being reported more often. News organizations have become recklessly obsessed with ratings and market share, which I believe has led to the proliferation of lurid journalism. Tawdry reports about sexual infidelity, murder, child molestation, torture, school shootings, etc., are what fuel the media these days. Depravity sells, and it sells well. I view news sources today as little more than tabloid outlets--even once venerable news sources like the New York Times and the Times of London are pandering more and more to sensationalism.

I know plenty of people who were horribly abused as children in the 1950's and 60's--where were the reporters then? Where were the reporters when thousands of children were systematically sexually abused by the clergy in those periods and before? I believe that many subjects then were taboo--nobody wanted to hear about them because they might upset their false notions of safety and security. I believe that this mayhem and depravity has been happening all along, it's just that now the media has figured out that they can make a tidy profit from other peoples' misery. But maybe this is also a good thing, like lifting a rock to expose the vermin beneath. We may not like what we see, but knowing that these problems exist can also be viewed as empowering--maybe we can do something to address the conditions that lead to individuals committing these horrible crimes.

It is apparent the much of the privacy and the conventions of polite behaviour of earlier periods has been stripped away, for good or ill. The news organizations relentlessly pursue every tawdry detail of crimes and suicides in order to trump their competitors. For example, in the late 60's, a young man that our family knew committed suicide by closing and sealing off the garage door of his family home, starting the family car and laying down in the back seat. Unfortunately, this 16-year-old's mother was napping in a bedroom next to the garage and the fumes killed her as well. I'm sure that the young man never meant to harm his mother. Even though everyone in the area knew about this tragedy right after it happened, there was never any report in the local papers--it was something considered off-limits by reporters at the time. If the same incident had happened today, you can bet that it would have made the headlines and readers would be able to follow all the horrible details in follow-up articles for days afterward.

And despite all, I remain a basically optimistic person. Just my two cents.
