I hear root canals are very painful? Anyone had one done?

I had a root canal done about 15 years ago--not the most pleasant experience, but better than the pain of the abscess.

Our family dentist is an absolute artist when it comes to dentistry! When my daughter hit her teeth on a set of school playground monkey bars at the age of 11 and broke both of her upper front teeth, our dentist was able to quickly repair them so that today, at the age of 26, my daughter can smile and you would never suspect that her teeth had been repaired. He is fantastic!

I am totally phobic of the dentist now. Last Easter which you will probably remember I had to have my tooth out because I had an abscess which infected my jaw. It was absolute agony for 2 months! When she took it out I was expecting to feel better but it was worse - it took her 1 hour to get it out as the root was stuck! I even drunk whisky and brandy to try to take the pain away & I am tee-total!

When I was 15 I had to have an apisectomy on my front tooth because of an abcess and I had to have my mouth all stitched up while I was doing my exams! I have had 2 more of those since. I have about 10 crowns and 4 holes where I have had teeth out! I have two gold crowns for my two eldest sons as when I was pregnant with them I had abcesses so they had to leave them open to drain until I had the babies!

I wonder sometimes if it would be better to just have them all out!

I've had root canal ... its not to bad .. its the 'keeping your mouth open' for ages bit thats the worse!! geez it makes your jaw ache!!  Krissy .. you should have no trouble!1 with a mouth that size it'll be easy enough!  should be enough space for the dentist to walk in!!  mind you keeping quiet for that long might be an issue for you!!SurprisedLaughing
