I think Poeflora missed out on the delivery - all the very best to you in your new homes. How about other POE members adding their house warming gifts - that should provide some fun Laughing

Oh, what pretty flowers Cathy...how nice...do you people over there have what's called an "house-welcoming" service by your local businesses, with free samples, and information to your local community? They usually send an person out to greet you  also, or at least they did us. But they leave you an sample of free items Like window wipes, and sample cleaner and free house key coupon, maps to local restruants, phone numbers to eat at for when your busy moving, with perhaps an free cup of coffee and/or pastry roll from one of them for an quick break... telephone book of local services you might need to get ahold of, utlitly departments, schools, an free inexpensive small hand broom/ mini-dust pan from some local hardware store, one free big trash bag, an "list" of the names of your immediate neighbors by house address, how many members are in their household, so you know if they have kids or not....and perhaps an small plant of inexpenisve flowers for your table, such as one colorful primrose or pansy...maybe an large candy bar. First time I got this I thought it was so nice of them. If I remeber rightly it was the local "toastmasters" club that did it.

What a lovely idea, I have never heard of anything like that, maybe  it would be a great idea to institute.  We have been here two and a half years and still don't know any of the neighbours other than to wave, and occasionaly one of the children will shout hello.

Although in all fairness we are in an Afrikaans neighbourhood and we are english speaking with limited use of their language!  Although English is taught as the second official language in Afrikaans schools, and Afrikaans is taught as second language in the English schools.
