That was too lovely for words, thank you so much for putting it here, I would not have known anything about it otherwise.  What a lass!

I read up about St George - wikipedia says that

St George was a roman soldier who died a christian martyr.

The 23rd April was declared St George's Day and a feast day by the Synod of Oxford in 1222.

By the 14th Century St George wad declared the Patron Saint of England and the protector of the Royal Family.

I think something which has been an English tradition for close on 800 years should be held on to.

In England every English man, woman & child, should be allowed to celebrate their English traditions without let or hinderance from anyone.

So fly the flag people and enjoy the feast day!

I celebrate St. George's Day every year with traditional English food. I have my Union Jack flying every day   , but I really should get myself a St. George's Cross      to fly  .

Trouble with flying the English flag over here, people think you work for the Red Cross. Not to up on their flags of the world.

Will have to check the YouTube link out later.

Thanks, Michael.

I'm so glad of the adult conduct that this site forum offers. having just looked again at Cleo's performance on the you tube site, I decided (unlike me) to read some of the comments posted to that site, re her performance.

words used to describe the performance such as 'slut' fxxxxxxx bithch etc etc. These refering to a ten year old girl, singing before an ordience of millions for the first time realy show the calibre of scum that has access to the webb. Ok, she was wearing high heeled shoes, a ten year old copying her big sister 'playing at being a grown up!

Some critisized her choice og song. They were probly not from the UK. 'White cliffs of dover' was a wartime song sung by Dame Vera Lynn, This was sung when Britain was on its knees fighting fascist leader Hitler Children were evacuated inland from the dangers of possible German invasion and this was a song of hope, listen to the words, It brings a lump to the throat of every Brit who remembers or lost family at that time. Even American forces who eventully came to help us have fond memories of this song. To hear a 10 year old today stand in front of millions while her Gran looked on brought a tear to my eye.

The scum that put rude comments on that site dont deserve to be free today!!!

Maybe it's time to bring back censorship too, language like that is not necessary, and I am horrified at how many films contain an overabundance of this kind of talk!  In the context of this young girl singing, I think it is totally out of order, that really got my back up!Yell

I think it s left to our generation to hold on to self respect and respect to others Cathyml, perhaps we were at fault by giving our kids too much, theyare now trowing it back into our faces, or at least some are.
