I am hosting a pot luck dinner for the family, this evening, so that should be really nice.

Anyone else doing something special?

A 'Pot Luck' dinner Sue, you mean they visit you and take a chance on getting fed? Lol

Yes, Happy Mother's Day....worked some on it yesterday...they had such an good buy on flowers locally at Home Depoe they literally sold out hundred's of them in an matter of couple of hours...and called in another shipment of them. Lady we talked to said, that she would let us have two hanging fushia plants, dark purple with pink and honor the sale price on them instead for us. Was very nice of her. they hang in front of my downstairs windows, and look lovely. I kind of spruced up my front of the house "patio" for summer yesterday...got an few plants of  garden veggies this year, some more herbs...I work an bit on that every year....this year it was some more Chives and French Taragon. Filed police reports on getting our stuff stollen, I have no idea if insurance will pay..kind of wondering what my son will do for his ATV group he belongs to..it's time here shortly for their annual get together. ..he still owed $600 on this ATV. .my sister in-law has been in town, so everyone is visiting her also. Most the relatives look as if they are headed out here in an month or so, either camping long term or going back to Missouri for an month...at least most of them are gone over the month of June it looks like. Seeing this morning an picture of precursor earthquake clouds over the Gulf area...and an man in another web site said that he thinks (being an weatherman), that the oil slick may help to prevent hurricane season this year...as less water evaporation to fuel the tropical storms from forming into hurricanes. Those earthquake clouds look they they didn't form in the gulf..maybe further down south perhaps? Sumutra, Indonesai had an 7.4 quake fairly close to shore yeasteray also. Time will tell, but they have been having larger quakes this last couple of days down near San Deigo, California also. I'm going out here soon to see if I can find my frozen Beef roast for later today as dinner...though it was mentioned about going out for dinner also...let you know later on which one we end up doing. Pot luck sounds nice though also. Have an good day ladies...lots of hugs too!

Pot luck is when everyone who attends (well, usually the women if you come as a family) brings some kind of food item. So you end up with bits and bobs of everything.

Like tonight, I am making a rhubarb coffee cake with caramel sauce, and let say everyone else brings a dessert, then we have a night of desserts and no main dish, hence the pot luck.

I just finsihed my dinner, my son finished grilling the Sirloin steak, while I made the mushroom topping for it, then we had jo-jo potatoes (steak fries some people call them) grilled mini-corn on the cob from last summer, an green leafy salad topped with an mixutre of black beans, roasted yellow pepper strips, cherry tomaotes cut in half, and an green onion end to the bulb chopped with "fat free" Itailian dressing, Texas Toast Garlic Bread, Potato salad. For dessert we have kept it low key because of an upcoming birthday, so I had an few decorated cupcakes amid and "Happy Mothers Day" plaque (plastic) on the middle of them. I am so tired, I opened that BBQ up for the summer this morning by washing it down and cleaning it up. Then many years ago I bought an wooden cabinet someone had put an sink into for dropping ice in the sink and inserting drinks for an party, it has an drain spout for the melting ice cubes at the bottom, though I found an perfect sized plastic tub instead for the sink....I spray painted the whole thing this morning silver to match the BBQ Grill. Might have to go over it one more time though...but bought an black plastic BBQ cover for it...so it can  set outside...and what an surprise..this morning was beautiful and sunny, by the time we finished dinner it started raining/sprinkling. So everything I took out for summer is about half in the garage again tonight. It was an really busy weekend, I'll enjoy some rest tonight I think.

.....I've never been to an bad "pot luck" Sue...there has always been to much food there for it to go wrong. But I sure am tried of people like thier steak "well done" around here, it dries it out to much for me..subject of the mushroom topping lightly cooked in butter and an tad bit of steak sauce to flavor them. Right now I'm drinking some Blueberry watermelon "sparkling" water...zero everything and only 2 calories. Dr"s scream at to much sodium these days...this has zero....zero fat...zero carbohydrates, zero sugar, zero protein..but it is flavored water after all.  I guess it gets its 2 calories from 1 per cent fruit juice?

I should have made the minestrone soup instead of the rhubarb cake. Most everyone bought dessert, and we really did need some kind of main dish. I'll remember that next time.

It was a good mother's day. My oldest son called from Korea, it was WONDERFUL to talk to him.

Hope all you all had a lovely (American) Mother's Day.  I know I did.  I received some beautiful cards, enjoyed a lively phone chat with my mum in Alabama.  My daughter treated me to afternoon tea at the British Pantry, and my son came over and cooked a delicious dinner for me.  Fair to say I certainly had enough to eat!  :-)
