Not to mention our Planemakers and shipbuilders. If any British ex-pats British dependancies or British overseas travelars out their run into difficulties YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN, unless yo want a couple of volunteers with baseball bats turning up in a row boat to help you. Falklanders, here come the Argies again, good luck!! AND WHAT FOR, TO PAY BACK THE GREEDY BANKERS THAT CAUSED IT ALL. Get ready for the riots, (the French are revolting lol). |

The nimrod also protects our fishing fleets and Nuke subs so I suppose they'll be grounded. And what about our 'Scottish' friends neighbours and small businesses dependant on the bases these kites operate from. On the news this lunchtime a serving jump-jet pilot asked the PM if he'll loose his job, the PM 'thanked' him for his past valiant service but didnt answer the question. I remember back in the Falklands crises, The 'Argies' only had one aircraft carrier (named The 25th May) which they had bought off us, they didnt bring it out of port in case we sank it. Our present Government says we need to change our defensive strategy to fight a 'cyber' enemy. Get real, have you been playing too many computor games, what do we do in a 'real' war, send the bankers to fight for us, and if we are attacked at home, do we hit them with our keyboards. |

They would never scrap something they feel was an effective military defense. Today's war will be deadly invisible to most people to how its fought and won or lost....thousands of miles away....most likely from space. |

(remember the 'doomed' US starwars programme? The facts are that since then, the planet earth has had several conflics and still we are fighting 'wars' in the same fashion as we did hundreds of years ago, so there will always be the need for 'conventional' equipment, unless you start throwing 'nukes' around and end everything for everybody. Ron, I loved the Nimrod, having been in the RAF at its conception. The 'new' version is almost complete and its equipment that was being developed, second to none. It plays a vital part in our early warning radar capability protecting both the UK, Canadian and the US from 'backdoor' attack. It also guards our submarine fleet and provides search and rescue co-ordination to civil, fishing and military users in the North Atlantic. It creates employment, both high and medium engineering skills in the north/midlands were our aircraft are built and a living for an whole community of people at its now 'doomed' base in Kinloss up in Scotland.

They have done that with several ships over here in order to keep them...true you don't have the milatary on board...but it could still be used if needed in an war time emergency. Have you ever read the book written called "This HAARP" is not for you"...you should its about today's technologies. |
