Hi Barbara. So sorry to hear about your Mum. I sure hope it is not a perforated ulcer. No matter, it sounds very serious. I'll keep you both in my prayers.

Thanks, Ron and Anna, I'll do that.  I just spoke with the ICU nurse who said my Mum is doing better (no more vomiting blood, etc.) and is stable with a good red blood count.  They were finally able to give her a unit of blood, and she was asking for food, although she's not allowed to eat yet.  Still no answer on the cause of the bleeding at this juncture.  Thank God and the power of POE prayer for getting her this far though!  Have a good night and I'll check back in tomorrow.
I think that's good news Barbara and pray that progress can be maintained.

I am so glad to hear that your Mum's condition is more stable and I do hope they will find the cause and rectify the problem.  I'll continue to keep you both in my thoughts

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and powerful prayers.  I spoke with the ICU nurse today and Mum is much improved - no more bleeding (though they still don't haven't pinpointed a definite cause), and she's allowed solid food (which pleased her no end).  Her doctor said if she continues improving they may release her home as early as tonight.
