One more point from me on the Starkey home, which I feel is pretty valid is that John's widow, Yoko bought and gifted "Mendips" to The National Trust because she cared, and, from what I can gather, Paul and Mike were happy to let their old home be preserved. Perhaps that is the main difference in all this.
