I know I recently bantered with our Australian friends about cricket and the flood but sadly it has now got serious down there in Queensland and Brisbain.

Can the international family of POE (Pictures of England) based here in England, be of any assisstance to anyone down under who may need rescue or help in contacting anyone local or international?. Perhaps you are cut off by flood or power and cant contact anyone and are in urgent need? If we can help, contact us via this forum and I'm sure our members in Oz, india, South Africa, the US and here in the UK will try to help.

This is ironic, the people of Brisbain helping out Pakistan recently, I wonder if Pakistan are now returning the compliment?

Willingly Mike!  What a devastating time they are having.  And runaway bushfires on the other side of Australia!

I think we are going to have to deal with these world type disasters and do what we can...because just sitting there waiting like Haiti is for others to help..isn't doing it ...but it might be in ways what we need to stimulate our own economies worldwide..and if we don't have the money...sometimes its the volunteerism that helps. As I said, Haiti needs to start by using thier own mud and making their own bricks to fire and use..start those foundations. With such huge global disasters comes the resources to use...how we go about that one...we can't grow trees fast enough for timber...even if the people had the money to pay for it...we are going to have to use what the earth has close by to use...which may take some "thinking" in some locales. As strange as it sounds...we could stand to see more steel and alumimiun production facilites back in business also for those water proof foundations to new housing in flooding type areas...make up sheets to strap around the bottom of the rising water before it gets up high on the houses...about 10 feet tall for beginners...LOL.

If they were freely given from one country needing help.. by another country and shared worldwide, it would cut down the cost for all of us in disasters...and make recovery easier  and faster. this "after math" thinking.... is what is hurting us all globally.
