Highly paid soccer stars and celebs are useing a loop-hole in the tax laws to avoid paying tax at the legal rate. One such player, faced with a tax bill of £623,000 on a 'slice' of his earnings, coughed up just £25,000.  They form an 'Image Rights Company' and have part of their 'mega' income paid into them. Then, using their Directors status, 'loan' money from that company as a Directors 'loan', paying only 2% tax. repaying the 'loan' later when tax rates reduce or simply 'folding' the Image Company to avoid paying tax completely.

This is  the 'unfair' part james, those at the 'top' can afford to pay an accountant to save on paying taxes, and they do. But the average Jo Bloggs, paying his way as he goes, has to 'toe the line' If they are sick, disabled or on low fixed income they are looked on as 'scroungers' and made to feel guilty claiming even 'token' benefits to survive from day to day. Not all well-off people 'fiddle' their taxes, the decent pay their share, but in the same vien, not all benefit claiments and low paid are scroungers, and must not be seen as such.

This is nothing new...Kenny Lay and George Bush doing the same thing... pretty much shut down our School system from their greed  and it forced the schools to classify many of the students as having some kind of  "disabilty" to get federal funding also. He raised our electric bills by now 45 per cent since 2001...where as the public is expected to pay this billing fraud...have been lucky to get an 3 per cent cost of living raise and Obama has not given social security checks even that for the last two years. You can not blame most Americans from feeling like rounding them all up and sending them to the moon someday...when they ask how they are suppose to live, just say...I don't know...your leadership did that to us...forced us to live off "nothing".. from exhorbitant costs and no wages to cover them. Our system is suppose to be an "balance" from inflow and outflow,,, and don't let anyone else tell you differently. Kenny Lay went down the tube...and I'm fairly well "God" will send judgement to anyone else tries this also..without anyone else havnig to be concern...as he knows this is inhumane.

Lol Beth, I struggle to keep my own finance in check (I've never tried it using other peoples money though, interesting!) No, I believe in 'horses for courses', trouble is we seem to be getting 'donkeys' in there. Brown did a reasonable job in number 11 but was a disaster when he moved to number 10  and everyone knew he would be that's why the press wanted blair to move over and let him loose.

PS (I dont think Ron would like me living next door to him anyway, lol!)

As an interesting footnote Beth, one of my ancestors WAS a Chancellor in the sixteenth centuary, see below link

It occurs to me that at least you are both more likely to be thinking of England rather than Europe!!

Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing!    Ummmmmm

I've plenty of stamps with the Queen's head - used unfortunately - but I could send you an envelope though, LOL

At the current exchange rate 100 quid would go quite a long way here.
