I think back in the medieval days, like the 11th, 12th centuries, people gained their titles by supporting some monarch in battle. So they were "good deeds" depending on whose point of view. The monarch who benefited saw them as good deeds, but the poor peasants who got booted off the land or had their town ransacked most certainly would have seen them as "evil deeds." But I think nowadays, people get knighted for good deeds, acts of charity or some good accomplishments as representatives of what's good about the nation. Am I right, Brits?
