What I learned from my mother (that I wish I hadn't).

I'm ironing handkerchiefs.

I just purchased two boxes of cotton hankies, one mens, one women's. 12 hankies. I laundered them and I tried to just smooth them out, fold them up and put them away, but I couldn't do it.

Years and years of ironing hankies as a child has left its mark.

Is there something you learned from your mother (or father) that you find yourself doing?

Hi Sue!

I always wear shoe, or house slippers or sandals or some kind of footwear, even in the house, because my dad was constantly on us to "put some shoes on - you'll catch cold, step on something, etc."  His other pet peeve was leaving unnecessary lights on, so I'm pretty good about turning off lights now.

I don't think I've ever ironed hankies, but my grandmother used to iron sheets.  Thank God, I never picked that one up.  lol

Oh Ruth, I am with you, I'd rather take a beating than iron clothes! When I buy clothes I always make sure it's something that can be taken right out of the dryer and hung up. I do have a few blouses that I haven't worn in over a year because I don't want to iron them. Lol.

Actually there is one thing I learned from my grandmother. She always said that a lady drinks from a tea cup and never from a mug. To this day I think of her words when ever I drink from a mug. I do it, but it irks me. It's especially annoying because I have a nice set of tartan mugs that were given me for Christmas one year and I love them. Lol.

Don't you mean a beaker, Diana?  lol

And as long as you're only drinking from cups, don't forget to extend your pinky.  Smile

Probably not putting something aside for myself in life...why else you think she died at 48 years old...true to habit...I haven't either.. and an big problem now. My days are numbered in this aspect....you can not turn back time and change some things....you have to go on with what is what.
