617 Squadron of the Royal Air Force, led by Wing Commander Guy Gibson (and later by Leonard Cheshire) the special unit became known as the Dam Busters after their precision flying over the Dams in the Ruhr Valley in Germany!

if its the dambusters the leader was guy gibson  i think the number was 517 cant think anything else.
