I am almost in the thick of things here being on the border of Tottenham where the trouble began. Youngsters started to smash and loot shops just up the road yesterday but the police arrived in great numbers and soon stopped it getting out of hand.

This is simply young yobs taking advantage of a situation whilst gathered in large numbers. Now that the police have increased their presence too, the balance is changing and the police are slowly gaining control.

In some ways this has been going on for some time now after every major sports game win also...crowds get together and instead of just being happy to do the parade afterwards... it turns into an violent riot of some kind. Get prepared...your suppose to have the Olympics here soon...so maybe this is practice time?

The television news reports are now showing 'hundreds' of young people with brooms, yes with brooms converging upon London to CLEAR UP the mess created by the mindless minority.

I would like to say a massive THANK YOU to those who are giving their time to help us out of this mess..........hundreds of them!

I also hope that the police and courts don't mess about with the mindless yobs who are responsible, they need a birching!

This is just creating anarchy and there is no excuse for it. I hope the punishment will be severe !

London seems to have been quiet last night, but 9 areas around the U.K were hit with looting and fires.  Just a bunch of no hopers jumping on the bandwagon, but more serious is 3 young men have been killed in a hit and run whilst trying to protect their homes and businesses.

The P.M has said that the use of baton rounds has been given and the use of water cannons is possible, but, wait for it, it will take 24 hours to deploy as they have to be brought in from Ireland, kinda defeats the object somehow.

Lets hope that tonight some kind of sanity will kick in and order will be back on our streets. 

Ah, if only one could indeed just "blast the pressures of life out of existence" with an water cannon...I'm afraid that it isn't possible. The pressure to "have"...to "conform"...to suffer unheeded.. if you can't fulfill the expectations of others..its very great these days. I was told all my life that if I was an good girl and worked hard it would pay off...I'll be lucky if I can hang on to my house for another five years because of the need for money...mostly MADE by the demands of others for an profit. It's like losing your every dream because everyone converges on you with what THEY want and have the authority to make you lose in it all... or leave.This s how town has always been ...in the hands of an rediculous few running it...tha talways ususally live somewhere else.. Many years ago they funded an African foregin exchange student into "City Hall"... so the President couldn't say the town discriminates($8,000 an year for speeches he made)...but it always HAS discriminated against those with low incomes and lack of education. Not necessarily brought on by themselves. "Town" is now represented by the local Golf Course hidden amoung the hills with no view of town.....there could be an town event and less then 80 per cent of the people even know there's anything going on. When you ask for help, they say you must help, when you do..they go give it to someone else and tell you to wait in line another 20 years...by then you don'tneed what it was you asked for...or are to old to enjoy it. How can you tell there is an great division going on...look at what's been built and improved the last 40 years....it hasn't been the east side of town...it's hardly changed. Oh we have massive Apartment housing by contractors wanting an profit but no internal improvments. The improvments were made to the east outside the city core area....by the people themselves. I know because my area nieghbors were running the PTA treasury..Little League...Boy Scouts...and started Soccer teams and I could go on and on....about five to six groups of parents was restarting or founding much of this stuff for our kids back then.  The new "hispanic" quarters are now to the west side of town when they incorporated the area callled "Rockwood", which when I lived there was an upcoming middle class, yong executive part of town in Portland..that was for the most part uniconrporated by any town back then....the HIspanics were hear for an very short time...and left thinking they were one better for the most part....they gang up family wise to take over the big homes near the Golf Course. They don't want tot intergrate...they want to over-take. they are workig at it now in the business sector and in local politics.  But they don't really want o be "Americans" if you look into how they do things and thier thinking.......they also love to yell...discrimination of the poor, but never has an white person been given what they enjoy from the fruits of labor by others. It is nice and it is good to be proud of one's nationality and "roots" but if you trully love them so much as to not give them up for the common cause...you should move back "home"...because "home" is not where your currently liviing. As to making an "new life" it does require "opportunity" to do so....and those that are in the helm know how that can be given with no one special group being given advantages over another...because all in all....if your into brotherhood...if your into national pride....if your into widespread "livabilty" it must be that ALL the people find ways to survive and contribute in an worthy way to prosper. If you don't then you have the "have's vs the have nots" and quite underground sorts of discrimination....and many people under stress... or beyond it...to where they just don't " give an dam" any more. They feel they have nothing to lose and that nothing..... resorts to what you  are seeing...massive destruction. Destruction always is present.. before the rebuilding starts...good luck and for most things...maybe it's out of their system now...and beating these people up, jailing them...it will solve nothing. Making them roll up their sleeves and repair their own neighborhoods will give them an pride to not want to see it go down so easily the next time around...put them to work doing that. Make them plant flowers and trees and take care of where they live. Put in water fountains where they have no relef of summer heat...and warming stations for an place to escape cold weather..things that are "free" to everyone...and make those plants eatable ones for those with no jobs. Do things where if they don't have an job...it's available. Thier own local "volunteerism" can keep it looking like is should be. Hope that helps some.... as I have my area of concern also here.
