I searched to check if there was already a thread about it but I couldn't find any. So, sorry if there's something about this subject:

I've seen the news about the attacks and explosions in London... What's going on in England? :(

I feel terribly sorry  and I really hope the people who are responsible for this will be punished. May order be back to the streets and may the English people live in peace again. In my prayers I'm begging God to make this stop. I hope no one gets seriously hurt...  :(

it started when for some reason...hasn't been said as yet...the police killed an father of four....stirred the area up with I guess is one of poverty and discrimnation in their minds.. for going into rioting. It is perhaps someone from England can say more about this. I watched an good sized fire on tv tonight...and gneral rioting and an car fire last night. Reminds me of when Los Angleas burned many years ago.

You can also check it out at reddit.com...they are reporting lots of news on twitter also. Several video's on reddit it....now if we can confirm what's being shown is the truth...they seem to be saying that planted "terrorists" are behind all the rioting....looters looking for an reason to steal things.

Thanks for the hints of where to check out. The Brazilian media told about the killing of the man who had 4 children. But as the media itself says, I don't beleive this is the real cause. Whatever the reason is, it has to stop...  And you are right sk lawson: those people are terrorists; nothing justifies what they're doing. Harming and hurting innocent people, destroying beautiful places, all the fear those people have been through... Not to mention the loss of money the British government will have to rebuild everything they are smashing... Absurd!  :( I'm really worried about everyone who is in London now...

I've been following the news as well, Ursula and Shirley. It breaks my heart to see the pictures of the fires in London. I read tonight that the trouble had spread to Birmingham. I hope this is stopped before any more harm comes to anyone or more beautiful architecture is destroyed.

Maybe you read, Shirley, about the problems here in the US in Philadelphia. "Flash mobs" as they're calling it of teenagers have been roaming center city Philadelphia randomly robbing and assaulting people. The mayor was on TV tonight and said he's willing to jail the parents as well as the teenagers responsible. The police presence on the street was incredible to see.

I wish all this upheaval will stop and peace is restored for everyone soon.

The images on the TV this morning are heartbreaking, 9 areas of London and 5 other Cities being attacked and trashed overnight.

My heart goes out to the residents and store keepers that have lost their homes, possesions and livlihoods, thay have had to stand and watch years of hard work go up in flames.

It is nothing more than out and out vandalism and theft, there is no excuse for this, how dare these mobs steal and set alight other peoples property and steal,I am incenscensed when I see these images.

Watching TV now there is a young man clearly injured and bleeding and being helped by a passer-by, and a youth comes up behind him, opens his ruck-sack and steals everyhting out of it, what is the, not just this country, but the world coming to!

Please give a thought to all the innocents in this unrest, the men Women and children that have lost their homes and livlihoods, and will now have to start building their lives and work from the ground up.

I wish that this country were able to have a police force like that in other countries, where if you do bad you get to pay the price, unfortunatley in this country our policeforce is nor allowed to use the force, hence the force has been dropped and now they are just the police, who have to stand by as they know that if they wade in that the threat of police brutallity and commensation will raise it's ugly head.

I hope that tonight will be a peacefull one, but have an awful feeling that more is to come.  I don't think that the TV networks help, with the constant images and sensationalism, I think in some cases it fuels the situations, as no doubt these yobs will be watching themselves and others like them on tv while counting out there spoils of the night and wondering which area to target next!

Jesus Christ! Karen; what you said made me feel even more devastated... Is it possible that the riots won't stop today?

The media don't show everything, you know. I'm very worried about the people. And I have friends  (English friends) who live in London. No news from them. I don't know if they are alive! But I read from the BBC of London that only one person died (a 26-year-old man). I hope they are right; I hope there are no more victims.

You talk about the British Police but you know, they are considered the best or one of the best Police in the world. In Brazil, the situation is much, much worse.

Here, if you are under 18 you can't be legally punished, you can't be arrested no matter what you do!

Here the police can't kill or even hit rioters 'cause the stupid Brazilian media call them (the police) 'criminals'...

A few years ago, we had something very similar happening in some ciites in Brazil. Lots of riots, burned cars and houses, lots of people killed. The cause was very different though. Different and more disgusting: drug dealing. The drugdealers started the attacks to show the police, the government and the population that they set the rules. In Brazil, the drugdealers use to say: 'Laws? There is no law.We are the ones to make the laws and everyone has to do as we say'.

No one was arrested. In the biggest cities, people live in fear, it's like the Italian Mafia, you know? The levels of crime go beyond the reasonable and our poor police can't do anything. Our policemen, don't have proper training, don't have proper equipment (the police use simple guns while the drugdealers have powerful machine guns and other more powerful weapons they get ilegally). I'm always afraid cause I live by myself and I work morning, afternoon and evening; I arrive home late. Most of my friends have been robbed several times, I have friends who were kidnapped, others had their houses robbed and others (female) were raped and robbed. There's no safety.

We don't have death penalty either and corruption rules. Polititians are almost all bought; funny that they are never victims of the criminals!... I hope this helps you to feel better about the British Justice...

Well, I'm still very worried about the situation in England. I'll be praying for the English people...

It's all disgraceful and makes me feel so sick. When is the government going to get up and do something about it rather than sit back in their comfy chairs and just chat about it?

Breaks my heart that so many innocent people have been hurt in so many different ways. I hope God strikes the rioters down and brings peace again to the country. Praying for all the innocent who have been wronged and hurt.
