Wow!  That was a bit more excitement than I normally enjoy on my lunch break.  A 5.9 earthquake centered in Virginia that was felt up and down the east coast, including my office building in DC.  No damage or injuries that I know of.  At least we had a nice day, weather-wise, for evacuation!

Right you are, James!  There were small aftershocks reported, but I didn't feel them.

A new experience for me, for sure!  At least it got me out of the office for a bit, had a nice walkabout with everybody else.

Was a quick few seconds here as well. Things did shake pretty good. But Elsie and I are fine. There were some buildings with some major damage but only a few. The news was on all afternoon covering the earthquake. You would have thought the world was coming to an end the way they went on! lol

Glad everyone is okay. Glad it was nice weather too and that it didn't happen this coming weekend when Hurricane Irene is expected to come right up the Chesapeake Bay quite close to where I live!! Surprised

Glad all you Eastcoasters are OK.

We have a neice and her family there, so got word early letting us know that, other than evacuation, everyone was OK.

Yes, it was the big news from my hubby's family in Pennsy too.  I was at work when a few of my office mates were talking about being on a conference call and the people on the other end saying, "Wait a minute, I think we're having an earthquake."  When they told me they were talking to people in DC, I couldn't believe it.
