Glad you were "OK" Barbara...they are still saying damage in the millions because of those three spires came down of the National Cathederal and the Washigton tower up top. Now you know how we feel out there with the shakers...and Oregon here an couple of years ago decided to not sell earthquake insurance to homeowners. Y es, media has an heyday on the news, but it was noticed here some time an couple of months back the call for preparations for everyone everywhere to expect anything in the days ahead....we werre wondering then if there's something they knew that we didn't.

Krissy....excerpt from JeffMasters...at http://classicWunderground.com/blog... go to earthboppin and read Sheila's link..she's an person over there to be trusted. Here is some of what it says....in my own words to keep things down an bit....Hurricane Irene...threatens to be the most dangerous storm along the eastern coast since 1938...and back then it flooded the New York Subway System with an 8 foot surge into Battery Park along the South Side of Manhatten...after several hours if this 8 foot surge not only did the subway system flood but so did the (Path) Port Authority Trans-Hudson train system in New Jersey...in Hoboken. FDR Drive in lower Manhatten had 4 feet of water and 50 cars stranded which required scuba divers to help in their rescue of some of the people...and the transporation systems between NYC and N.J.was down for 10 days, it caused millions of dollars of damage.

(The last I heard Pres. Obama ordered the Navy out of Northfolk area and out to sea to weather this storm yesterday?  One reason why he's working with Fema all up and down the coastline right now...I don' twant to scare you, as they like to build things up...but hope your all aware of what to do, since this is not your typical weather, perhaps it will lessen dramatically iin North Carolina...and go further out to sea, bu tyou never know these days. Keeo us posted...all of you living on the east coast!  There weree two more small quakes today in New York also....if this concerns the Hurricane...it's coming in with an very low pressure reading most likely.  They are strange things...only one we ever had out here with 100 mph winds or greater, they lost thier wind monitor on the bridge with an gust....it toppled an huge apple tree over our house...and dad went out and we watched him nicely take his hand and move it off the house with the help of the wind...it looked so incredibly easy to do. Even though it was very windy....you couldn't feel it hardly...you culd see it though...it was unsureal for the most part...this slammed into us at an time there was no such thing as droppler radar to pick up anything of the kind....we had but maybe 1 hour before it roared into Portland from the phone calls of people living on the coast by word of mouth....and Ham radio operators. Just before we were about to walk out the door for Homecoming night at the High School....someone called dad.. and he stopped us...said your not going!)
