Right then let's hear what you have been up to and earnt a claim to fame. This could be somewhere you have been that is not normally a place that is where one could normally get to, or even something you have done that normal people do not get the chance to do !

For mine I claim to be the only person ever to have read the "Amateur Photographer ", that is laying down at five thirty in the morning in the middle of the runway at Gatwick Airport and note the runway was not closed but still live.

Don't be shy, brag about what you have done and share it with the rest of us all.

Inspired by the local BBC radio, ran a phone in this week on the subject, the presenter said his personal claim was to have changed his son/ daughter's nappy on the car parcel shelf whilst stopped in the fast lane of the M25. Yes it was during a time it was at car park status !!!

one of my claims to fame was ---as an apprentice aged 18 i was a delivery boy and the shop i worked in had a very large meat order round of farms in the area maybe 6 - 8 and we served them all --there were 3 more chaps in the shop and we would take it in turn to deliver these saturday orders -the record time to get back was about 2hrs 45 mins but i could do it in just under 2 hrs --the reason being i knew the post-man he would put my bike in his van and take me round to all these farms then drop me off just a 100 yards from the shop --we still meet up and to this day they dont know how i was "the fastest errand boy in the west"  happy daysSmileWink

I went to three Oscar parties for Lord of the Rings in Hollwood, LA, where many of the cast and crew of said movie came to celebrate after the Oscars.

At the first party, I got to hold two of the Oscar figures belonging to Richard Taylor who won them for Best Make up and Best Visual Effects (and yes, they are very heavy).

The best of these was definitely the third party, when LOTR ROTK won eleven Oscars, all of which were brought to our party, where the winners all spoke to us.

Here's a picture from that last party

This was mentioned in a previous thread but my uncle, my dad's brother, served in the Royal Navy along with the marvellous Alec Guiness and whilst on active service he rescued said Mr Guiness and his crew after the great man grounded his ship.......was also awarded an OBE but not for that action....I have the medal here at home, given to me in his will.....and very proud to have it......

Thank You Sue !  I now have a very envious daughter here, she is an avid LOTR fan ( especially if it is a Vigo scene) she wants to know if you met him.
