We heard teh news over here yesterday...at 90 years old...it doesn't surprise me and "stent" technology is usually an safe procedure...it is basically one of two things...clogged arteries from cholestrol deposits or else weak artery that wants to collapse. The stent keeps the artery "open" for the blood flow to remain normal...provided one eats correctly. My sister in-laws brother in law had 8 of them implanted in him...he was quite up in years also...and he turned out right....his stents were not the cause of his death...or ever would be...it was prostrate cancer. Every day when you get past 80 is an blessing of God.

I was awake the entire procedure, you naturally don't feel anything, as your an bit sedated also...takes less then an hour....they inserted an little camera on the inside of my leg...into the main artery and routed it up through my heart until they found the obstruction..cleaned it out and inserted the stent. Most dangerous part of it is taking the camera out again....and then they have to hold the artery until it clogs up with an seal and stops bleeding...so you don't bleed to death. They were telling me that with Portland over one million people and the surrounding area... that they do 2 to 5 of these stent placements an week sometimes. I have an picture of it all...I was 95 per cent " dead" when they did mine. Expenisve one hour though..about $50,000. After that you take some anti-rejection meds for an bit, and things to stop any possible infections and  meds to make the blood flow easier and your out and maybe down an bit until the leg is out of danger and healing... and your "OK"...and then you watch your diet and excerise and maybe go through heart therapy for heart disease...for the first several months..and then once an year check-up...or if anything comes up that is bothering you.

I have to hand it to the royal family, they are a hearty lot. Let's hope we're all as long lived and healthy as they are!

Hi Diana nice to hear from you, hope you are well dear friend.

Prince Philip attended Church this morning. He walked unaided and that has to be a good sign surely. We all have to get to 90 years of age. lol

Great guy indeed!
